Cixi City, a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Zhejiang Province and managed by Ningbo City, is a Type II large city. It got its name because it governs a stream in the south and from Dong Han Dong An's 'mother's kindness and filial piety of the son'. Cixi is located on the coast of the East China Sea, on the south bank of Hangzhou Bay, bordering Zhenhai District and Jiangbei District of Ningbo City to the east and southeast, and connecting with Yuyao City to the west and southwest. It is 60 kilometers away from Ningbo city center to the east, 148 kilometers away from Shanghai to the north, and 138 kilometers away from Hangzhou to the west. It is an important industrial and commercial city on the southern wing of the Greater Shanghai economic circle in the Yangtze River Delta region, and also one of the coastal economic open zones approved by the State Council. Cixi City is located on the southern edge of the North Subtropical zone, with a monsoon climate; the terrain is high in the south and low in the north, presenting a three-level step of hills, plains, and tidal flats stretching towards Hangzhou Bay; it is a typical reclaimed city, known as 'Tang Tidal Land and Song Land', rich in tidal flat resources, and is the region with the most abundant land reserve resources in Zhejiang Province; it has a long history of celadon culture, being one of the main birthplaces of Yue kiln celadon, and an important starting point of the 'Maritime Ceramic Road'. It is one of the first pilot areas of the national civilized city, national garden city, national sanitary city, and Zhejiang high-quality development construction of common prosperity demonstration area, ranking 7th in the national top 100 counties in 2023. Cixi is one of China's three major home appliance production bases, and the number of national-level specialized and new 'Little Giant' enterprises ranks first among the top 100 counties in the Yangtze River Delta.
