Fieldwork: Changsha Park, a lesser-known park away from the crowds

Evergreen parks are an indelible part of the past and present of the people of Changsha. When we were students, they were a must-visit for spring and autumn outings; when we were on vacation, they were a great place to take the family for a walk; when we were in love, they were a great place for a date... Hunan Martyrs Park was built in 1951. In addition to the memorial tower, this comprehensive park offers visitors the chance to experience Hunan's folk culture, go boating on Lake Nianjia, enjoy the flowers and amusement park, and try out a variety of modern amusement facilities. Located on the banks of the Liuyang River in Kaifu District, Changsha, this park is also a place of childhood memories for the locals. After all these years, Martyrs Park has been transformed with the construction of lakes in the lowlands, islands and pavilions in the lakes, and more. It is now a new park, and visitors come to visit every day. The south gate is the main entrance to the park. I remember when I was a child, whenever I went out to play, my parents would drag me to take a tourist photo. Standing at the entrance to the park, I can't forget the helplessness of being forced to take a photo. When you're tired of playing in the amusement park, you can take a break at Lake Nianjia, the largest area in the park. There is a large forest on Autumn Island, with a beautiful mix of colors that make it the most beautiful scenery in Changsha at this time of year. The causeway along Lake Nianjia is lined with metasequoia trees. In November, the metasequoia trees turn from green to red, and the fiery red leaves cover the road, making it especially beautiful. During major holidays, themed events are held here. For example, in spring and autumn, various flower and bonsai exhibitions or calligraphy and painting exhibitions are held at the park's Xiangyi Garden. Whether you come here to pay your respects or just to find a quiet corner to relax in the hustle and bustle of the city, this park has much more to offer than we can imagine.
