Mer de Glace

Trains that call little red trains that leave at Chamonix station take you to Montenvers station will leave you an unforgettable journey. The cogwheel train takes you from 1035 metres to an altitude of 1913 metres in 20 minutes. Once at the station take the gondola to Mer de Glace that allows you to discover the ice cave and glacier. The Mer de Glace ( sea of ice ) is the largest glacier in france. Access is via around 500 step up and down the station. Man made ice grotto had to be dug out every summer. Ice sculptures and caves are under inside the glacier.

In 20 minutes from the heart of Chamonix valley ( 1035 m ), you reach the 3777 metres of the Aiguille de Midi thanks to fast and safe cable car.
