The new Segara main restaurant and sky pool bar at Ayana Bali are amazing

Ayana is truly a behemoth of hotel complexes in Bali—the entire park is so large that shuttle buses are needed. I've been here three times before, staying at the Ayana Resort and Spa Bali, Ayana Villas Bali, and Rimba Jimbaran Bali by Ayana. This time, I stayed at the newly opened Ayana Segara Bali in 2022. All facilities of the four hotels are shared, and I particularly love the main restaurant Karang; the food is excellent, and I highly recommend not missing out! The overall design of the new Segara hotel builds on the foundation of a traditional tropical resort, infusing it with a rich local ambiance and unique spatial experiences—Segara is the tallest hotel in the Ayana complex, situated at the intersection of forest and sea. Against the backdrop of natural beauty, the use of local textures and various materials incorporates cultural elements. The architectural form is inspired by the undulating rice terraces of Ubud, cleverly utilizing the terrain to present an organic flow, including an aerial view of the main pool surrounded by bougainvillea, which also makes the architectural curves look more lively and interesting. There are multiple spaces and facilities that connect indoors and outdoors, such as the rooftop platform designed with rice terrace landscapes in mind, which overlooks the most spectacular sunset on the island. This is also where the sky pool and rooftop bar are located—absolutely beautiful! It blurs the boundaries between architecture and landscape, and the interaction and combination of such indoor and outdoor spaces, along with natural and abstract landscape features, enrich the spatial relationships between architectural forms—allowing guests to transcend the buildings themselves and appreciate even more of nature's charm.
