Our journey began in Blagoveshchensk. The entire trip took nine days: we spent one day in Heihe, took a train to Harbin on the evening of the second day, and returned to Heihe the morning before our flight home. If you're interested, I can tell you separately how to do the Blagoveshchensk → Heihe → Harbin and back route. For now, I'll tell you how we spent five days in Harbin itself. 📍 Day 1 First, we checked into our hotel, and then spent the whole day just strolling around the city center. We walked along the pedestrian street, reached Saint Sophia Cathedral, and popped into popular shopping malls, including Wanda Plaza and Parkson. In the evening, we decided to go to one of the night markets. It was located right between residential buildings, and for some reason, I was sure at the time that it was the main and largest night market in Harbin. It later turned out there was a much larger market. 📍 Day 2 We started the day with a meal at a sushi place, after which we went for a stroll along the Songhua River embankment in Stalin Park. A daily water transport service takes us across to Sunny Island. On some days, a ticket can be bought for as little as 2 yuan. Sunny Island can also be reached by metro, but we arrived late that day, so we didn't explore it fully. We strolled around the water for a bit, grabbed a bite to eat, and then decided to return to the city center. We took the cable car back. The ticket cost 60 yuan. 📍 Day 3 We started the morning at the local market. Compared to Heihe, the market in Harbin had more stalls selling prepared food. In Heihe, we especially remember the huge market with fresh produce, fish, and the famous pig heads lying right on the pavement. For lunch, we headed to Sunac Land. When we arrived, it turned out that after 4:00 PM, tickets are about 60-70 yuan cheaper. Before 4:00 PM, they cost about 218-228 yuan, so we decided to wait and bought a ticket at 4:00 PM for 158 yuan. We whiled away the time until 4:00 PM at the shopping mall next to the park. It's quite large, with plenty of decent eateries inside. The main drawback of Sunac Land for me is the lines. For some rides, you had to wait for at least an hour. However, there are attractions inside that require an additional fee. For example, a VR experience, as well as a large tower with a water ride and a boat that goes inside a tube. The tower also has an observation deck with a glass floor, and you can also jump from a height while attached to a safety rope. This cost around 280 yuan. On the day of our visit, a circus was open, and admission was free for park visitors. The clowns turned out to be Russian guys. As for the rides themselves, it felt just like something out of an American movie. And the park itself looks absolutely magical, as if you were stepping into some magical story. 📍 Day 4 This day was entirely dedicated to the Poseidon Water Park. Admission was around 200 yuan. Before entering the swimming area, there are numerous shops inside the building. After purchasing a ticket, there's a separate hall where you can buy swimsuits, life rings, towels, waterproof phone cases, and other items. However, the prices there are higher than in the city. If you need a ring, you can buy one on the way to Poseidon. There are plenty of places selling them along the way. When purchasing a ticket, you can add money to your individual wristband. Then, use this wristband to pay for food, drinks, ice cream, and other purchases inside. Tip: bring a waterproof case for your phone. You'll really want to take pictures. The water park itself is divided into two main areas. Inside the building: · huge water slides; · beach area with artificial waves; · hot pools. Outdoors, the area is also divided into two parts. If you go left, you'll find two huge slides and a hot pool with an ice cream stand. You can buy ice cream or a drink without even leaving the pool. The second area contains a small beach, a trampoline, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a foam party area that is open during certain hours. If you can't see the end of the water area, you can easily imagine yourself at the sea. Incidentally, the sand there is brought in from the sea. That same evening, I stumbled upon information about another night market in Harbin. And apparently, it's considered one of the largest and most popular markets in the city. At the beginning, there are lots of stalls selling toys, trinkets, perfumes, and all sorts of small items, and further on, there are entire blocks of food stalls. I didn't notice much of a difference in the food selection from Heihe. The only unusual things I saw were sea urchins and starfish. 📍 Day 5 We decided to dedicate our last day in Harbin entirely to Sunny Island. We started with the deer. Entry was 10 yuan, which included food and the opportunity to feed the animals. You can pet and feed the deer. And at the end of the area, we also saw a moose tied to a tree. Most of Sunny Island is a swamp, crossed by wooden bridges. These bridges lead to different parts of the park, and navigation signs are located at the intersections, making it fairly easy to navigate. Ducks swim in the swamp. There's also a cave with a waterfall on the grounds. You can walk inside the cave, and the waterfall looks especially beautiful from the outside. Goldfish swim in the pond. Sunny Island also has an amusement park. The rides are similar to those at Sunac Land, but they're much smaller and more geared toward children. We bought a ticket for 30 yuan for one ride. About two or three stories up, there's a track that carries a small gondola around a section of the park among the trees. There's also Swan Lake, where you can rent a pedal boat. The cost is 50 yuan, with a 150 yuan deposit. We planned to leave the Dragon Tower for the evening, but the rain kept us from getting there on time. We ended up just standing next to the tower. 🧳 Summary We managed to see quite a lot in five days, but Harbin turned out to be much larger than we initially thought. Now I want to analyze each place separately: prices, how to get there, how much time to budget, what to do there, and whether it's worth spending a day there.
