The cool spots right at your doorstep are unbeatable. Maoxian 😎 Trip highlights: The blue-green lakes of Songpinggou are nestled in the forest. The breeze sweeping through the leaves brings cool, moist air. Standing by the water feels better than being in a 60°F air-conditioned room. The ancient Qiang town’s stone villages are built on a hillside. You can spend the whole day there without seeing many visitors complaining about the heat. Catch the city opening ceremony in the morning for a full cultural experience. Itinerary: 2 days is just right. On day one, head straight to Songpinggou.
