I really underestimated Suining in July ☀️. I originally just wanted to find a small city between Chengdu and Chongqing to relax for two days, but the lotus flowers, Dead Sea, and clay pot dishes were a continuous stream of amazing experiences. After returning, I've already enthusiastically recommended it to my entire office. This itinerary is what I put together after experiencing it firsthand. Booking tickets and hotels on Trip.com was smooth, so you can follow it directly. 🥢 First, let's talk about food. If you come to Suining and don't try the clay pot dishes, you've missed out. Suining locals are truly obsessed with clay pot dishes. Taode Clay Pot's green bean and pork intestine dish is a signature. The pork intestine is tender, soft, and not gamey, stewed with highland peas. You can easily eat two bowls of rice with it 🍚. It's about CNY 35 per person. Julong Clay Pot focuses more on healthy options, an old establishment that even grandfathers used to frequent. For street food, you must try "Chong"—locals call it mustard spring rolls. The fermented rapeseed sauce delivers a direct hit to your head with the first bite, and it's only right if tears stream down your face 😂. Woziliangfen (jelly noodles) is eaten by scraping, and it's sour, spicy, and appetizing. Zhuotong Chicken is cured with salt from the Zhuotong Well in Daying. The skin is crispy, the meat is tender, and it has a savory and slightly sweet aftertaste. Shengliandao offers a lotus banquet, with dishes like lotus root paste and steamed pork with lotus leaves, which are as good for photos as they are for taste. 🌿 For attractions, July is the perfect time for flowers and water activities. Shengliandao World Lotus Expo Park must be first. It's an island in the middle of the Fujiang River, where thousands of acres of lotus flowers are in full bloom in July and August. Cycling around the island is 5.2 kilometers, and the "orange sea" sunset in the evening is mesmerizing 🚲. It's recommended to book the Wupeng boat early. China Dead Sea is in Daying, a 30-minute taxi ride from the city center. A single ticket is CNY 99, a double ticket is CNY 189. Middle and high school students can enter for CNY 40 with their admission tickets. You won't sink in the saltwater even if you lie down and play on your phone. Remember to bring your own swimsuit and waterproof phone case. Small cuts on your body will sting. Lingquan Temple and Guangde Temple are both part of the Guanyin's Hometown series. You only need to choose one. Lingquan offers a panoramic view of the city from the top, while Guangde, a royal Buddhist temple, is more photogenic. A night cruise on Guanyin Lake is more comfortable than playing in the water during the day; boat tickets are around CNY 60. Within the city, public buses and shared electric bikes are generally sufficient. A carpool to Daying Dead Sea costs about CNY 40 one way. Choose between Lingquan and Guangde. If time is tight, Lingquan offers better views. The Shengliandao Ferris wheel costs CNY 50 per person. If you want to photograph the sunset, go up half an hour early to secure a spot.
