Our family stayed for two nights in Room 1105 at Ananti Village and had a great time in the unique duplex setting. However, we were honestly surprised to find there was no TV! We had planned to keep the kids entertained with TV during downtime, and while I personally don't have a TV at home and was curious about it, a hotel without one was unexpected. On the plus side, I loved how the bathroom was separate from the bathtub, and the use of bar soap products was a nice touch. I also appreciated that the books on display weren’t just for decoration—they could actually be read! The ability to use the pool at Cove was great, but unfortunately, we couldn't charge snacks to the room due to a different system, which was a bit disappointing. Still, I’d love to visit again in the summer to enjoy the pool.

I escaped the dusty Helsinki office for a bit. My destination: Ireland, the land of eternal green. Naturally, my first stop was the Cliffs of Moher. If you’ve seen Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, you’ll recognize the spot—it's the location of the famous cave scene. Dumbledore was nowhere to be found, but the Atlantic wind did its best to toss me into the ocean. Apparently, the fences along the cliffs are merely a suggestion for some tourists. I, however, played it safe and stayed well away from the edge. I’m no stuntman. I spent the night at the Royal Hotel in Galway. It was clean and conveniently located, making it a great base for driving around. Driving on the left is always a bit of a thriller, especially when you keep trying to shift gears using the car door handle. Kylemore Abbey was stunning amidst the mist—looking like it was plucked straight from the Gothic novels I edit all too often at work. The castle reflecting off the lake’s surface was almost too perfect. Later, in the village of Doolin, I had a traditional stew. It was hearty and simple, exactly what I needed after a blustery day. Finally, I headed south. The colorful houses of Cobh were a delight. Those rows of pastel houses nestled on the hillside below the massive cathedral look as if someone spilled a bag of candy onto the street. One tip: bring a proper windproof jacket. An umbrella here is useless—it’ll just turn into a mangled metal frame within five minutes. Also, local shops close surprisingly early, so don’t wait until late at night to find food.

I recently visited the beautiful coastline of County Cork in Ireland and couldn't help but stop off at the charming historic port town of Cobh (pronounced 'Cove'). It's just a short 25 minute train journey from Cork Kent station on a fantastically scenic route through the marshes and forestry. 🌊 Upon arriving I took a walk down the short jetty to get a view back on myself and St Colman's Cathedral stands proudly above the sea front. The sea front has a vast array of cafés and pubs as well as local gift shops. 🚤 It was then time for my favourite way to explore any city: by speedboat! We saw fantastic harbour towns and the isolated Holy Trinity Church perched on the water front. 🏘️ Back to Cobh and I took the short incline to see a perspective on the hugely colourful houses affectionately known as the 'Deck of Cards' - it's easy to see why! ⛪ Time for a final close-up look at the Cathedral before it was time to head off back to Cork.
