Discovering Chiba Beyond Tokyo – A Slow Summer Day in Japan
When people think of Japan, Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto often come to mind first. But this summer, I decided to slow down and explore Chiba, a city that surprised me with its peaceful charm, hidden history, and everyday Japanese lifestyle.
My day started at the beautiful Inohana Castle Ruins, where I stepped back in time while enjoying the traditional architecture and surrounding greenery. Instead of rushing from one attraction to another, I took my time capturing photos and appreciating the quiet atmosphere. Riding the Chiba Urban Monorail was another highlight—it offered a unique view of the city and felt like experiencing Japan’s modern side in a more local way.
I continued my summer walk along the peaceful Yoshikawa River, enjoying the slower pace and scenic surroundings. Later, I visited the Chiba City Museum of Art, where creativity and culture came together, before ending my journey at the beautiful Chiba Shrine, a place filled with history, spirituality, and local atmosphere.
What I loved most about Chiba was how it showed me another side of Japan—not just famous landmarks, but the simple moments between them. Walking through local streets, discovering hidden corners, and seeing how people live made this trip feel more authentic and meaningful.
