If you're visiting Medellin, be sure to stop by Guatape. This town offers colorful streets and a giant rock formation. 🪨🌈 The name of this giant rock is Piedra del Peñol. It's the second largest monolith in the world. It was once revered as a sacred rock by indigenous people. As a reminder of this, there's a statue of Mary along the way. To reach the top, you'll need to climb the stairs surrounding the rock. It's quite steep and the oxygen is thin, so it can be tiring, but the view from the top is amazing, so try it on a clear day. 🌞 Guatape is about a 15-minute tuk-tuk ride from El Peñol! There is usually a long wait to descend; I waited two hours, and by the time it was my turn, it was already dark. I managed to capture the city’s night view from the cable car. Other key spots are centered around Bolívar Square, which is less than a 30-minute walk downhill from the Monserrate cable car station. I went on a coffee farm tour around Pereira. Visiting a coffee farm was one of the goals of my trip, so I was excited to see the coffee from cherry to tasting with my own eyes.
