4-Day Journey Through History, Culture & Volcanoes When I started planning my Indonesia journey, Bali was the name everyone mentioned first. But sometimes, the most unforgettable experiences are found when we choose a different path. Instead of following the usual route, I discovered Surabaya, a city of heroes, hidden heritage, diverse cultures, and the gateway to one of Indonesia’s most breathtaking landscapes, Mount Bromo. This 4-day journey showed me that Indonesia is not only about famous islands. Beyond Bali, there are stories waiting to be discovered. 🇮🇩 Day 1 — Discovering the Soul of Surabaya: The City of Heroes My first day began by exploring the historical heart of Surabaya. 🏛️ Tugu Pahlawan & November 10th Museum Surabaya is known as the “City of Heroes”, and this monument represents the courage and spirit behind that name. Walking around this area, I could feel how deeply history is connected with the city’s identity. 🚢 Monumen Kapal Selam (Monkasel) A unique attraction where visitors can explore an actual submarine in the middle of the city. It was a surprising experience and a reminder of Indonesia’s maritime history. 🌃 Tunjungan Street As the day ended, Tunjungan Street became the perfect place to experience Surabaya’s modern side. The lights, local atmosphere, and street scenes created a completely different feeling from the historical sites. 🇮🇩 Day 2 — Heritage, Culture & Coastal Beauty The second day was about discovering Surabaya’s diversity. 🏛️ House of Sampoerna A beautiful colonial-era building that tells the story of Surabaya’s heritage. Its architecture, museum experience, and unique atmosphere make it one of the city’s most memorable places. 🛕 Sanggar Agung Temple (Klenteng Sanggar Agung) Located near the coast, this temple shows the cultural diversity of Surabaya. The combination of traditional architecture and seaside views makes it a special photography spot. 🌉 Suramadu Bridge Ending the day at Suramadu Bridge was the perfect choice. Watching the bridge during sunset or under the night lights was one of the most beautiful moments of the journey. 🇮🇩 Day 3 — The Legendary Sunrise of Mount Bromo The highlight of this journey began before sunrise. Leaving early from Surabaya, I headed toward Mount Bromo, one of Indonesia’s most iconic natural wonders. Standing above the clouds and watching the first sunlight touch the volcanic landscape was a moment I will never forget. Mount Bromo was not just a destination. It was an experience. After exploring Bromo, continuing to Malang instead of returning to Surabaya made the journey smoother and more comfortable. 🇮🇩 Day 4 — A Relaxing Escape to Malang & Batu After the adventure of Bromo, Malang and Batu offered a peaceful ending. 🌿 Malang A charming city with cool weather, colonial architecture, and a relaxing atmosphere. 🏔️ Batu A beautiful mountain area near Malang, perfect for enjoying nature, cafes, and a slower travel pace. It was the perfect way to complete this East Java adventure. I came looking for a different side of Indonesia, and Surabaya gave me exactly that. History, culture, local life, volcanoes, and mountain escapes, all connected in one unforgettable journey. Sometimes, the places we almost skip become the places we remember forever. #underratedspots #surabaya #eastjava #indonesiatravel #mountbromo #malang #BatuIndonesia #hiddengemsindonesia #indonesiaadventure #travelindonesia #exploreindonesia #travelstory #tripcomcreator #travelinspiration #beautifuldestinations

POV: You only meant to drop by Mikutopia for a "quick sec"... but ended up staying the whole day 😭✨ There's just so much to do here. You can hop on the rides, snap tons of photos, or even take a chill stroll while snacking—it's a total blast 🍄🎡 I'm absolutely loving the mushroom world concept since it's so different from your typical theme parks. It has such a playful and whimsical vibe to it 🫶 Plus, there are so many colorful spots that make your photos instantly pop 📸

At first, I thought this was just a regular photo spot... but once I walked in, it was huge and had so many rides 😭✨ The concept of Mikutopia is absolutely adorable because it feels like stepping into a colorful mushroom world straight out of a fantasy game 🍄🎡 What I love is that it's not just for little kids. Adults can have a blast too since there are tons of rides to try out. They have everything from a roller coaster, Ferris wheel, flying chairs, pirate ship, drop tower, trampolines, a carousel, to even indoor & outdoor playgrounds 👀 There are so many photo spots, too. Literally almost every corner is perfect for content 😭📸

Sometimes, you walk into a place and your mood instantly skyrockets 😭✨ And honestly, that's exactly how I felt the first time I visited Mikutopia. From the outside, it might look pretty ordinary, but the moment you walk in… you literally step into a colorful, cute little universe that keeps your eyes darting left and right non-stop 🫶 Every single corner is incredibly aesthetic, and the tiny details are just beyond adorable. It's the kind of spot that makes you want to snap pictures endlessly because the vibes are so unique. And the most dangerous part: "just browsing" quickly turns into wanting to take everything home with you 🥲 I am absolutely in love with the ambiance—it feels fun and playful, yet still so cozy. It's truly the perfect place to find a little happiness. Great for a mini-escape, some quality time, or just window shopping while filling up your camera roll 🤍

My stay at Kaluna Resort in Batu City was an incredible experience🍃 It was an absolute delight for someone like me who was looking for a peaceful, natural vibe. Even though it's located right in the heart of Batu City, the atmosphere remains cool and shady thanks to the abundance of trees and greenery🌳 Each room is a standalone wooden cabin, offering excellent privacy with a one-building-per-room concept. Despite the wooden exterior, the interior is surprisingly luxurious and comes with fully equipped amenities. It's the perfect spot to spend some quality time with your loved ones, whether it's your partner or family🌟 Aside from the resort itself, I also grabbed a bite at their on-site cafe. They serve Indonesian cuisine, and the flavors are incredibly authentic and hit the spot perfectly. There’s also a pretty spacious swimming pool that’s open to the public for an entry fee of just IDR 35,000, which includes complimentary food and drinks.

If you're looking for accommodation in Batu City that can accommodate a group, I recommend this villa because it has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a private pool, a kitchen for cooking, grilling facilities, and other amenities like a Smart TV and karaoke. You can enjoy karaoke here. Additionally, it provides amenities such as an iron and prayer mat. The facilities are so complete. The villa's name is Villa Arendelle.

For those of you who only have one night in Batu - Malang, use this itinerary! It's complete with attractions, nature, culinary delights, and culture all in one. Kid and senior-friendly, no tired feet 🥳

Step into the pine forest, step out of the ordinary, this place is not just the ultimate spot for photo check-ins 📸, but also the best stage to test friendships (just look at that step 🤣). From strolling through the forest 🌳, to calls dropping out of signal 📴, to striking a heroic pose sitting on the cliff edge 🪨, this trip reminded me: “Life may be precarious, but the view is worth it.” 📍Goa Pinus Malang|Highly recommend the cliffside grassy platform for amazing photo angles! ✅ Best to visit on weekdays, fewer people, beautiful scenery, and plenty of photo opportunities! 🚨 It’s chilly up high, please watch your step and stay safe! #GoaPinus #MalangVibes #SitTightOnTheCliff #ForestTravel #IndonesiaHidden #TripMoment

A musical journey to Indonesia, staying in a fairytale hotel in Batu "Sayang, sayang, sayang hatiku"—this melodious Indonesian folk song sparked my fascination with this archipelago, and finally, I embarked on a journey to Indonesia, checking in to the Hanuman Hotel in Kota Batu. Upon entering the hotel, I was greeted by the rich traditional Indonesian decor. Wood carvings and wickerwork were everywhere, and the colorful murals on the walls depicted ancient legends of the country. The warm yellow lighting created a cozy and mystical atmosphere, instantly immersing me in the local culture. I stayed in a standard suite, which was spacious and airy. The layout was well-designed, with separate areas for resting and activities. From the window, I could see lush tropical plants and a small volcanic lake in the distance, a true oasis of tranquility. The hotel offers a wide variety of activities. In the morning, you can join a traditional yoga class and stretch your body and mind amidst the birdsong and gentle breeze. In the afternoon, you can hike through the rainforest with a local guide and discover rare flora and fauna. Dining is a culinary journey through Indonesia. The specialty satay, tender and juicy, paired with rich peanut sauce, is unforgettable. There's also the sweet and sour tamarind soup, bursting with tropical flavors. The average cost is about CNY 200–300, covering accommodation, meals, and some activities, offering excellent value for money. Other tips: There are many mosquitoes around the hotel, so remember to bring mosquito repellent. For outdoor activities, it's best to wear light sportswear and comfortable shoes. Here, accompanied by Indonesian songs and immersed in the unique local culture, every moment is enchanting. The Hanuman Hotel is undoubtedly the warmest haven in this beautiful encounter of music and travel.

I recently had the pleasure of camping near Agrowisata Batu in East Java, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The campsite was nestled at the foot of a beautiful mountain, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. One of the things I loved most about this campsite was the peacefulness of the area. It was a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of city life, and the tranquility of the countryside was truly refreshing. The staff at the campsite were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. They even offered us a delicious traditional East Javanese meal, which was a real treat. Overall, I would highly recommend camping near Agrowisata Batu for anyone looking for a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway. Good morning, stay healthy! Thank you to the Kgallery hotel, it's safe and hassle-free, and the price is amazing! 😄🙏 The hotel is very clean, and from the outside, it doesn't look like a hotel, haha. The breakfast was pretty good, and the main reason I decided to vacation there was because of the variety of activities for young children. I chose to ride a fallabela horse, feed the rabbits, and feed the fish. I recommend this place for pampering your tired children during PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) 🤣 That's all for my review. #happynewyear #cometodalian #university
