Strasbourg, France 🇫🇷 | 11 November 2025
I planned this as a one day trip from Stuttgart to Strasbourg. The plan was simple — come here, visit a museum, do some shopping at Place des Halles and pop by Carrefour before heading back.
I was so happy when I finally arrived in Strasbourg 😂 First stop was Petite France and omg, it was so beautiful. The old half-timbered houses, the canals, bridges and autumn trees with the sun shining made everything look so pretty. Lots of tourists also, so definitely not a quiet place hahaha.
There were souvenir shops everywhere, so of course I had to look around. Took quite alot of photos because everywhere I turn got something nice to see. The canal, old buildings and the autumn colours really made Strasbourg look like a postcard.
After walking around Petite France, I slowly made my way towards the town centre. Somewhere along the way I got an éclair 🥹 and it was yummy! Very happy with my little pastry while walking around.
Then I continued walking and started thinking about my museum and shopping plans...
Until I saw the malls were closed. 😭
Then suddenly I realised something very important.
11 November is Armistice Day in France.
AND IT WAS A PUBLIC HOLIDAY. 🫠
So my carefully planned museum + Place des Halles + Carrefour day trip was slowly becoming a sightseeing-only trip. 😂 The Strasbourg museums were closed that day because of the Armistice holiday, so my museum plan was gone too.
Still, I cannot complain because Strasbourg itself was beautiful. We walked around, took photos, enjoyed the sunny autumn weather and just explored the streets. Even the tram and the old buildings were nice to look at.
Lesson learnt: Before planning a shopping + museum day trip in France, CHECK THE PUBLIC HOLIDAY CALENDAR. 😂
I came to Strasbourg with a whole itinerary.
Strasbourg said: nah, just walk around and take photos. 🤣🇫🇷
Honestly though, Petite France alone was worth the trip. ❤️

Wissembourg: A Historic Town in the Bas-Rhin, Alsace, Near the French-German Border
Nestled in the Bas-Rhin department of the Alsace region in northeastern France, right on the border with Germany, Wissembourg is a historic small town home to about 7,500 residents. The town traces its roots back to a Benedictine abbey founded in the 7th century. By the Middle Ages, it had grown into a prominent religious and cultural hub in the Rhine region, flourishing alongside its bustling trade. Shaped by centuries of interwoven French and German influences, Wissembourg boasts a uniquely captivating cross-cultural charm. The town's crowning jewel is the Abbey Church of Saints Peter and Paul, a breathtaking Gothic masterpiece famed for its intricate architectural details and invaluable artistic heritage. The flawlessly preserved Old Town exudes quintessential Alsatian flair, with its winding ancient streets, traditional half-timbered houses, medieval ramparts, and picturesque canals. Another standout landmark is the striking Salt House (Maison du Sel), dating back to the 15th century. Today, with its serene, postcard-perfect scenery and rich historical tapestry, Wissembourg is a highly sought-after tourist destination in northern Alsace.

🇪🇺✨ My Europe trip in photos… but let’s be honest, traveling comes with a few weaknesses! 😂
Germany 🇩🇪, Switzerland 🇨🇭, and Strasbourg 🇫🇷, Netherlands 🇳🇱 gave me so many beautiful places to explore—and probably way too many photos to take! 📸🤣
So here’s the question for fellow travelers:
I think we already know which one I’m guilty of… 😂📸
Be honest—what’s yours? 👇

🏰A city where French and German cultures intersect! Enjoy the exotic atmosphere in Strasbourg
#AbsolutelyFreeTrip
Strasbourg, the central city of Alsace, is a city that feels like you've wandered into a fairy tale world✨
The Petite France district lined with half-timbered houses and the magnificent Strasbourg Cathedral are must-sees!
I was thrilled by the unique atmosphere that combines French and German cultures🎠
It's about 2 hours from Paris by TGV🚄
The old town is within walking distance from the station, and the compact structure makes walking around the city a lot of fun.
The key to success is "don't miss the cathedral's astronomical clock show"🕰️
The mechanical clock that runs every day at 12:30 is a rare experience that allows you to feel the pinnacle of medieval technology.
Alsace cuisine (choucroute and tarte flambée) is also a must-try🍽️
My impression of the trip was "the excitement of standing at the crossroads of cultures."
The city's scenery and the lives of the people are somehow nostalgic and new.
On your next trip, be sure to experience the "heart of Europe" in Strasbourg 💖

STRASBOURG, France
Strasbourg is Europe's prettiest and most enchanting city!
It can be hard to guess which country you are really in when visiting this beautiful city, since it has the best flavors of both France and Germany.
The first thing that stood out to me was how different it felt from other French cities. Walking through the old town with it's unique mix of cultures is part of what makes Strasburg such an interesting place to explore.
This unique city pulls off it's mesmerizing act with medieval twisting alleys lined with crooked half-timbered houses in chalk-box colors.
And the crowd dark cobblestone lanes and bridge-laced canals which all looks as though it has been plucked from the pages of a children's fairy tale bedtime story.
My experience with Strasbourg was during winter season and Strasbourg is renowned with the city's christmas markets. The yule vibe and festive atmosphere is perfect and magical.
All I can say after my trip is that Paris may have that cosmopolitan appeal but this city is the charming retreat of anyone's dreams. Because throughout the year, Strasburg is a charming destination.
Strabourg is truly one of the hidden gems in Europe. And is a fantastic addition to any European trip. 🇫🇷

As a symbol of Franco-German rapprochement in the aftermath of the Second World War, Strasbourg is home to a number of European institutions and international organizations. The Council of Europe was formed in 1949 to help protect human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Europe. It is separate from the European Union, but none the less important as a forum for discussion and dialogue among European nations.

The Day I Found the True Timber and Canal Heart of Strasbourg 🇫🇷🛶
Everyone told me I had to brace myself for an overwhelming wall of political bureaucracy and crowded souvenir stalls packed tightly around the European Parliament and the immediate cathedral square, so I prepared myself for an exhausting institutional tourist trap. But the moment I slipped away from the main commercial avenues, turned down a quiet, cobblestone lane into the historic Petite France district at dawn, and watched the soft morning mist rise off the calm canals while timber-framed medieval houses mirrored themselves perfectly in the water without a single tour guide shouting in my ear, the true, enchanting Alsatian soul of this borderland capital hit me like a physical breath. Standing before those centuries-old sloped roofs and stone locks in absolute morning silence felt less like standard urban sightseeing and more like stepping straight into a living fairytale. 🏰✨
.
📅 What I experienced
· Escaping the Institutional Crowds: Walking the quiet, pedestrian-only bridges and water locks of Petite France where historic tanner houses lean gracefully over the winding canals.
· Catching the Sunrise at Cathedral Square: Standing before the soaring pink sandstone spire of the Cathédrale Notre-Dame as the first morning light ignites the intricate Gothic stonework in absolute solitude.
· Exploring the Quiet Parks of the Orangerie: Strolling along the peaceful tree-lined paths and tranquil lake shores of Parc de l'Orangerie far away from the city center rush.
.
🏨 Where I stayed
· I stayed in a charming, wood-beamed boutique room inside a meticulously restored historic house right on the edge of the canals. Waking up to the soft chime of church bells and the gentle ripple of water felt grounded and deeply authentic. 🛏️☕
.
🍴 My culinary highlights
· Alsatian gastronomy is a magnificent fusion of French refinement and hearty German comfort traditions. I sat at a cozy, wood-paneled neighborhood *winstub* and savored a traditional *tarte flambée* (flammekueche) with a paper-thin, crispy crust topped with fresh cream, onions, and smoked lardons, paired with a glass of crisp regional Riesling. 🍕🍷
.
📌 My tips for visiting
· Explore the Historic Center on Foot or Bike: Strasbourg's Grand Île is entirely surrounded by water and pedestrianized, making it an absolute joy to navigate without cars.
· Start Walking at Dawn: The timber-framed alleyways empty out completely in the early morning, offering perfect, crowd-free conditions to admire the unique architecture.
· Wear Supportive Walking Shoes: Centuries-old cobblestone streets run throughout the historic quarters and will quickly tire out stiff footwear, so keep your favorite walking sneakers on. 📸🎒

Located in the heart of Strasbourg, the Strasbourg Cathedral, completed in 263 years, is one of the most important historical buildings in the Middle Ages and a famous Gothic church in Europe. The church is entirely made of pink sandstone from the Vosges Mountains. On the top of the front, on one side is a 142-meter-high minaret, but on the other side there is only one platform. It should have been a symmetrical spire. It was not built because of the limited financial resources at that time. Now it has become its characteristic. The Fortress Cathedral is also very famous. Ascend to the top of the tower, the city's beautiful scenery and magnificent forests and mountains are unobstructed.
There is an 11-meter-high astronomical clock in the church. Every 15 minutes, there are children, young people, young people and old people who represent the four stages of life. But every hour, there is a god of death. The timekeeping time is accurate, and by the time the clock is heard at 12:30, there will be a lot of characters coming out of the field, bringing a compelling, lively and humorous scene.

Located on the edge of the Black Forest in southern Germany, it is an ideal destination for wine tasting on weekends. From Strasbourg, over the vine-covered terraces, when you see a huge, robust Bacchus statue, it symbolizes that you have arrived in this miniature town. The streets leading to the commercial market are pink houses on both sides. The center of the market is the town hall. The front of the hall building is engraved with the Gothic inscriptions written in 770 AD. Its an unforgettable experience to join a local team in the outdoor red bar, and its an unforgettable experience! Its said that Faust was selling a soul to the devil at a hotel here.

The Rose Window Gothic architecture of the Cathedral of Strasbourg in France features towering towers, pointed arches, large windows and window panes with biblical stories. In the design, the ribbed vault, the flying buttresses and the slender beam column are used to create a light and slender flying feeling. And a new frame structure to increase the strength of the supporting top, so that the entire building with a straight line, majestic appearance and empty space inside the church, combined with long windows with stained glass, creates a strong religious atmosphere in the church. . The plane of the church is still basically a Latin cross, but a pair of towers are added to the sides of the west end door.

The city of Strasbourg, which has been stolen by France and Germany in history, has maintained the parallel state of German and French. The most fascinating is the medieval bridge composed of three bridges and four ancient towers. Quietly standing on the Illinois River, it sets up a link to the Little France. The theme of the house is relatively low-key grayish black, no colorful, but the bridge, the street is also dotted with flowers, the town surrounded by flowers is still very natural, quiet and peaceful atmosphere

Stroll through the winding lanes of Strasbourg's Old Town, the charming Gothic cathedral, the river's green-style brick-and-wood huts, linger in the small French canal, or indulge in the Alsace pub, telling the truth, than From yesterday's Paris, I am more interested in the small town of Strasbourg, which is far away from Paris, nearly 700 kilometers away.
Strasbourg is located at the eastern end of the French territory, across the Rhine from Germany. It is the capital of France's Alsace and Lower Rhine provinces. It is also the parliamentary capital of Europe. The headquarters of many EU institutions are It is also located here, which shows that not only is the location unique, the scenery is beautiful, the climate is pleasant, and the products are rich. The 20 km west is the Vosges Mountains, while the 25 km east is the German Black Forest. Because it is the border between Germany and France, the architecture here is also a combination of two countries. It is covered with medieval wooden truss houses and Baroque sandstone buildings. The canal bridges are criss-crossed, with brown roofs and black wooden slats along the way. The old houses are ancient and ancient. The area was said to have been completely destroyed during the Second World War, rebuilt after the war and listed on the World Heritage List in 1988.
Strasbourg Cathedral, which was completed in 263, is slowly approaching it. There is a feeling of infinite proximity to the sky. Although it is already known that European churches are everywhere, you can see it after the Cologne Cathedral in Germany. So shocked, I am so excited that I do not know how to describe its shock.

When the fog in Strasbourg reminds me of the modern tram of a city driving into the medieval old city, I realized that it is a bit like a forest in Edinburgh, separated by Strasbourg, France, and Kyle, Germany. Curious about the border area, I took a tram to go to Germany. I found a lot of Germanic faces. When I returned, I heard the French pronunciation of the past few days from their tone. A cross-border tram contacted the relationship between the two. In a small step, you feel the pride of entering a new world. This mentality should only exist in the traveler
Strasbourg, the northeastern city of France, the Greater Eastern Region (Rgion Grand) Est) The capital of the capital and the province of Bas-Rhin (67 provinces) is also the seventh largest city and the largest border city in France [1], also known as Baibao or Bai Xuebao. The city is located on the west bank of the Rhine, on the east side of the Baden-Wrttemberg region of Germany, and on the west side of the Vosges mountains. Strasbourg is far from the coastline but is still affected by the warm currents of the North Atlantic and is an atypical temperate maritime climate. Historically, Strasbourg has been in the overlapping zone of multiple ethnic activities. From the original Celtic, to Gaul, Germanic, and later Frank, Charlemagne, these nations have left their footprints in Strasbourg. In the mid-19th century, it gradually became the focus of long-term competition between Germany and France.

Strasbourg, as the name suggests, knows that France and Germany have exchanged sovereignty. The reflection of the lake is like a mirror, and the locals especially like the red mouth to send the child.

This romantic little French city of Strasbourg
walks along the River Ill in the old streets of the Little France, where the rain washes through this slate. The building on the river that reflects the unique black-and-white wooden structure of the medieval Rhineland region suddenly reminds me of the "rainy mood", but now it is better to have a good umbrella as a prop.
The old town of the medieval town is like a maze, and you will pass by a fork inadvertently. I turned left and turned right inside for a long time, and finally followed the guide to the commercial street.
The romantic commercial street, the dazzling array of goods in the window also fascinates the coming and going crowd. As the weather gradually cooled, the stores gradually began to sell Christmas-themed products, and the rich Christmas atmosphere pervaded the entire street. Although it was still far from the festival, it has already made people feel very happy.

Strasbourg in northeastern France, this is a legendary city, the largest border city in France, and even the European crossroads, the "second capital of Europe." This is not a fairy tale world, but the fairy tale world is shaped according to its appearance. Tasting Alsace wines in Strasbourg is our first stop. Also because of the special location of Strasbourg, it is said that Arthas used a French method to make a German-style wine. Its been afternoon to arrive in Strasbourg, and I feel that the whole town is on vacation. The most famous building in Strasbourg is the Gothic cathedral (built in sandstone with the famous Astronomical Clock in Strasbourg) and the streetscape of black and white timber-framed buildings in the medieval Rhineland region especially in Along the small French Quarter of the River Ill, and the medieval streets and squares around the Cathedral (such as the Piazza della Signoria, Saint-Etienne Square).

When it comes to France, people always think of the word romance first. Located in the French border, the ancient town of Strasbourg, a romantic and romantic town.
Along the winding river, strolling through the charming streets, into the magnificent church, feeling sacred and solemn, you can't help but fall in love with the bleak and elegant romantic life here.
Through the romantic border town of France, there is also a different understanding of romance. Although the time is short, there are countless unforgettable memories. The sparrows here are small but complete. Every street scene seems to have a dazzling aura; in this legendary art capital, every scene is filled with rich poetry.

We arrived in Strasbourg on the border of Germany and France on a rainy autumn morning. The largest border city in France is located on the west bank of the Rhine, across the Rhine and the German Baden-Wrttemberg in the east. The state is across the river.
Strasbourg in the morning is quiet, I saw so many flowers in a city for the first time - there are many rivers in Strasbourg, and the railings of the bridges in the river are all above The flowers are clustered, and the windowsill of the houses in the city are also decorated with flowers. The whole city is full of colorful colors. The air is cold and humid, and the view is, but it is a life that is infiltrated.
Strasbourg is a hybrid city the city has witnessed hundreds of years of grievances between Germany and France, the Franco-Prussian War, World War I, World War II, Strasbourg in Germany There have been many changes between the two, whether from language, architecture or culture, both of the elements of Germany and France, the "mixed blood" taste is very strong.
The Old Town of Strasbourg is a world heritage site, and the heart of the Old Town is located on the Big Island of Strasbourg. In the drizzle, the old European wooden ribs still stand upright around the river. It is said that in the past, just look at these wooden rib patterns to know if the homeowner is a carpenter or a blacksmith.
The famous "unfinished building" in Europe - the Cathedral of Our Lady of Strasbourg is the landmark of the city. This Gothic church, which has not been completed in 263 years, has only one 124. The spire of Migao - yes, this is a building called by a unit, and the other side of the house is not made because there is no money...
