Having previously visited Banyan Tree and Angsana Ihuru islands near Baros, we were excited to finally experience this iconic destination. Baros is conveniently located just 15 minutes away by speedboat, making it a perfect second island choice. Our Beach Villa, number 108, was ideal for two people, beautifully situated for sunset views and providing access to a sunbathing jetty. On this side of the island, there are no views of Male, which adds to the feeling of isolation and tranquility. Baros itself is small and boutique, offering a luxurious yet homely atmosphere amid a tropical paradise. It strikes a balance—neither too flashy nor overwhelming. The service was impeccable throughout our stay. Every staff member was attentive and well-trained, making us feel genuinely cared for. We truly appreciated their efforts. The Baros Sails Bar was wonderfully relaxing, perfect for post-dive lunches or laid-back evening drinks. At Lime, we enjoyed several meals with healthy fish-of-the-day options from the à la carte menu, while the Cayenne Maldivian buffet was fantastic. The desserts at Lime, especially the Berry Tiramisu, were exceptional. Breakfast at Lime was a treat, with a diverse global buffet and à la carte choices. Their patisseries and bread were top-notch, and the Maldivian breakfast curries were a delightful addition. The Baros gym was well-equipped and rarely crowded. The Dive Centre boasted excellent facilities, gear, and boats. We went on six dives, with Thin Thila being our favorite site, featuring the rare Porcupine Ray as a highlight. We had a fantastic holiday on Baros Island! One major advantage is how quick and convenient it is to reach the island—just 15-30 minutes by boat from the airport. The sunset cruise on the traditional Maldivian boat "Nooma" was also a highlight. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. Visited Baros during the Maldives' off-season and was fortunate to have relatively good weather despite some wind and rain. It wasn't hot, the crowd was sparse, and overall, the stay was very enjoyable. We spent the first night in Male city due to a late arrival and booked our Baros accommodation by noon the next day. Initially, the boat transfer was scheduled for 6 pm, but after some coordination, they arranged an earlier pickup at 3 pm. While waiting at the airport VIP lounge, we relaxed, enjoyed refreshments, and stayed cool in the air conditioning. The speedboat ride took about 25 minutes to reach Baros. Though the waves were rough, I didn’t feel seasick despite my tendency to get motion sickness. Upon arrival at the island, we were warmly greeted by many staff members. Our assigned butler, Bonan, gave us a brief tour of the island and introduced us to the facilities. He was extremely friendly and helpful, ensuring our stay was well-organized and enjoyable. We stayed one night in a beach villa, which opened onto the beach, and three nights in an overwater villa. The overwater villa had a private pool and direct access to the ocean via stairs. While both accommodations were impressive, I personally preferred the beach villa for its larger space and value. However, if you're planning on enjoying a floating breakfast, you'll need a room with a pool. Our stay included breakfast and dinner at the Lime restaurant, where we ended up sampling nearly the entire menu. The meals were exceptionally delicious, and we left the restaurant stuffed every evening! The island also offers various activities like snorkeling with provided equipment. We were lucky to encounter sea turtles, mantas, eels, sharks, and diverse schools of fish. Kayaking was also fun, although the strong waves made it more exhausting. The staff at Baros were all very warm and hospitable, making our time on the island incredibly relaxing. I’d love to visit again if given the chance.

The water villa was very comfortable, and breakfast was a delightful experience with made-to-order options and no queues. The island's serene environment was complemented by a stunning house reef, where we spotted fish and small sharks, along with breathtaking beaches and crystal-clear waters. This was my fifth trip to the Maldives but my first time staying at a resort accessible by speedboat instead of seaplane, and now I completely understand why it’s preferred by many. Baros is just a 25-minute speedboat ride from Malé Airport, making the journey exceptionally convenient and stress-free. There was hardly any wait after landing, and on departure, we didn’t have to leave hours early or deal with scheduled transfers, as can often happen with seaplanes. This effortless travel enhanced the overall relaxation of our trip. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. We landed early in the morning, and the team thoughtfully arranged for an early check-in for both of our villas. On the day of departure, they accommodated a late check-out for one of our villas, which we greatly appreciated since we had an evening flight. A heartfelt thank you goes to Sujata (Suzy). Across all my trips to the Maldives, she stood out the most. Her attentiveness was remarkable—always ensuring that everything was going smoothly, often adding thoughtful touches without us even asking. Those little gestures made a huge difference and left us feeling truly cared for throughout our stay. What impressed me most about Baros was the staff overall. Every single employee was warm, welcoming, and genuinely committed to ensuring we had the best possible experience. Such a high level of hospitality is rare to encounter. The villas were stunning, with private pools that were amazing, and the island itself was tranquil and beautifully maintained. The array of wildlife around the island added a wonderful touch that enhanced the charm of our stay. The house reef was, without a doubt, the highlight of the trip for me. It stands as one of the finest I’ve experienced in the Maldives. Although the coral wasn’t the most colorful, the marine life was extraordinary. Each snorkeling session felt unique; I spotted a turtle, an eagle ray, parrotfish, a diverse range of tropical fish, and even Finny 1 and Finny 2, two resident reef sharks lacking dorsal fins whom the dive center staff introduced us to. I eagerly anticipated encountering them every day. The reef was teeming with life, and I never felt compelled to venture out for additional snorkeling trips. An unforgettable highlight of our stay was the night snorkeling. I encountered so many fascinating creatures that I had never seen before, and some I could scarcely imagine even getting a chance to observe. This ended up being one of my favorite experiences of the entire trip, and I would highly recommend it. The dive center team also deserves special recognition. Everyone there was exceptionally friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and visibly passionate about the reef. They made each underwater adventure a delight and were generous in sharing their insights with us. Breakfast each morning offered an excellent selection. We opted for the half-board package and dined at the included restaurant for dinner—it was superb. Meals were served from an impressive menu with a range of tasty choices. If you craved something not listed, you could request it from the chef a day in advance, and they would do their utmost to prepare it—a thoughtful detail I appreciated. I also took advantage of the spa, which offered a delightful experience marked by quality treatments, skilled therapists, and a beautiful ambience. Thank you to everyone at Baros, especially Sujata (Suzy) and the outstanding dive center team, for creating such a memorable stay. I already find myself longing for the house reef, Finny 1 and Finny 2, and all the incredible marine life. It was a remarkable experience, and I’m truly grateful for it.

We stayed as a couple and it was a fantastic experience. A cozy green island with an excellent lagoon for swimming and a commendable reef filled with a variety of fish and mollusks—everything was amazing! The quick 30-minute boat transfer was a delight, with water and drinks provided onboard. Huge thanks to Sam, our caring and attentive host—you’re the best of the best! The beach villas were great, clean, with twice-a-day housekeeping (special thanks to cleaner Mustafa). The menu-based meals were high quality and delicious, with the chef personally checking in at each table, which created a homely atmosphere. It was absolutely wonderful, and we can’t wait to return! There are also à la carte restaurants offering grilled dishes, Japanese, and Mediterranean cuisine—all excellent.

My wife and I had visited the Maldives several times before at resorts like Baros, Meeru, and Anantara, though our last trip was 18 years ago. This time, we returned with our 18- and 16-year-old daughters to Coco Palm Dhuni. From the moment we were greeted at the airport by Coco Palm representatives, their warmth and enthusiasm were unforgettable. This exceptional hospitality shone throughout our stay and was especially evident at the Cowrie Restaurant. Each morning, afternoon, and evening, Sharmila, Linhansa, and Susantha welcomed us with genuine kindness, while Riyaz charmed and entertained us. Nalinda went above and beyond, making sure our glasses were always full and every need was met. A special mention must go to Aakash, whom we first met on our arrival night during karaoke at the Conch Bar where he sang a duet with my daughter. Later, we discovered he was the Head Chef, and his team delivered an incredibly high standard of food throughout our stay. Calling it "buffet style" doesn't do justice to the variety, presentation, and a la carte quality of every dish. On one of our final days, Aakash personally thanked us for appreciating his team and generously offered us a beach dinner for our last night. Unfortunately, I was unwell that evening and missed what my wife and daughters described as one of the most creative and delicious meals they've ever had. Hearing I was unwell, Aakash thoughtfully sent a bowl of nourishing soup to my room to help with my recovery. This level of care and attention across the Cowrie restaurant staff truly elevated our experience and set Coco Palm apart. This exceptional service extended throughout the island. We often visited both the beach bar and Conch Bar, where the staff even went out of their way to keep the bar open until 2 a.m. and set up a projector for us to watch the World Cup matches. The beach BBQ is an experience not to be missed. The snorkeling here rivals that of the best 5-star resorts we’ve stayed at—eagle rays, turtles, dolphins, and blacktip reef sharks all made an appearance. While we didn’t try the spa, given the exceptional standards at every other aspect of the resort, I can only imagine it would meet or exceed expectations.

This was our seventh trip to the Maldives. Having previously stayed at four other resorts, this was our first time at Dhawa Ihuru. We traveled as a family of four—two adults and two adult children aged 20 and 22—staying 14 nights in two Beachfront Jet Pool Villas with the Premium All-Inclusive package. Our main criteria for choosing a Maldives resort include an easily accessible and lively house reef, a small “no shoes” island, traditional Maldivian design, and delicious food. Dhawa Ihuru met all our expectations and delivered our best Maldives experience yet. · *Excellent and Varied Food** When we arrived, occupancy was unusually low due to the conflict in the Middle East, with only six villas occupied initially and about 35-40 guests at its busiest. Meals were served à la carte instead of the usual buffet format, which we initially worried might limit options—but we were pleasantly surprised. Lunches and dinners featured four courses with a rotating daily menu offering three choices for starters, main courses, and desserts, plus a soup. Portions were generous, and the food consistently flavorful, varied, and beautifully prepared. The Premium All-Inclusive package also allowed us to choose one meal daily from a more extensive separate menu, every dish from which was outstanding. On Fridays, we were treated to a buffet dinner at the sister resort, Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru, just a short two-minute boat ride away. This added a delightful change of scenery and a chance to explore another beautiful island. · *A Beautiful and Well-Maintained Island** Dhawa Ihuru is a small, tranquil island, and among the five Maldivian resorts we’ve visited, it stands out as being the best maintained. The staff worked tirelessly to trim vegetation, clear fallen leaves, and combat beach erosion, keeping the island immaculately clean and pristine. Mosquito treatment was frequent, and we experienced virtually no bites during our two-week stay. Although we were concerned that its proximity to Malé might lead to more noise, waste, or boat traffic, these worries were unfounded. The beaches were spotless, there was minimal noise, and the short boat ride from the airport was a convenient bonus. · *An Exceptional House Reef** The easily accessible house reef was one of the main reasons we chose Dhawa Ihuru, and it was phenomenal. Close to the beach, it can be snorkeled all the way around in about an hour. The reef was teeming with diverse corals, fish, anemones with clownfish, and daily sightings of blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, including some fairly large ones. Regular boat rides to Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru allowed us to explore its house reef, where we were lucky to spot a group of eagle rays. A night snorkel at Dhawa Ihuru revealed a sleeping turtle, and we joined a remarkable snorkeling safari to Baros Reef. Overall, it was a snorkeler’s paradise. · *Immaculate Housekeeping** Our villas were impeccably maintained by Fazleen and Moosa, who cleaned them twice daily. They adapted to our routines, often tidying up while we breakfasted or snorkeled, and ensured the second cleaning was done before dinner so that our rooms were perfect for the evening. They set up cushions daily for all outdoor seating and brought them inside at night. We were also touched by the towel art and the special bed decorations they made for our wedding anniversary. · *Outstanding Service** The staff at Dhawa Ihuru deserve a special mention for their warmth, professionalism, and commitment to making our stay unforgettable. At Velaavani Bar, Don, Subhasis, and Akash made delicious cocktails and created a welcoming atmosphere. The service at Riveli Restaurant was equally impressive, with Yoga at the egg station serving the best Eggs Benedict, always with a smile, and Eni warmly greeting us each day. Our assigned waitress, Mamta, stood out with her professionalism, attentiveness, and cheerful demeanor. She managed our often complex orders effortlessly, maintained perfect timing, and provided excellent wine recommendations. Her warmth and friendliness, paired with her ability to engage in conversation at just the right moments, made our holiday extra special. We truly hope to see her again on our next visit. · *Eager to Return** Dhawa Ihuru has offered us our most incredible Maldives holiday yet after seven trips and stays at five different resorts. The July weather was superb—only a couple of quick showers and a refreshing breeze that made the heat bearable. We stayed in a water villa without a pool, which we did not regret. The villa was spacious, cozy, and well-designed, with ocean views from almost every point and a terrace overlooking the lush island. The ocean itself was our perfect "pool," where we swam every morning and evening. During the day, we snorkeled at the house reef near the main beach. The vibrant reef, teeming with diverse fish, was a delight, even for experienced Maldives visitors. Another highlight was the marine life around our villa—sharks and giant rays swam by frequently, creating unforgettable moments that will draw us back to the Maldives again and again. The dining experience was extraordinary. Our package included breakfast and dinner, taking place at the Lime and Cayenne restaurants. Lime's breakfast was smaller than some large resorts, but it had everything you could want—fresh fruits, pastries, cheese, yogurt, juices, and hot meals, along with à la carte options freshly made to order. For dinner, both restaurants offered beautifully presented, high-quality dishes with diverse menus to keep things exciting over 11 days. Pro tip: dine at Lime around 6 p.m. to enjoy the stunning Maldivian sunsets while you eat—they’re breathtaking and unique every night. This was not our first trip to the Maldives, and typically, islands either impress immediately or they don’t. Baros’s charm unfolded gradually; each day revealed its lush greenery, charming paths, and calm ambiance. As we prepared to leave, the thought of departing brought tears to our eyes. The resort truly has soul; its harmony, tranquility, and genuine hospitality make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. Though the island is small, it never felt dull or cramped. On the contrary, its thoughtful layout and maintenance offered privacy and coziness throughout our stay. Special thanks to the staff, who provided attentive yet unobtrusive service. Our butler, Sam, was exceptional, always prompt and kind with our requests. Mika and a sweet Russian-speaking waitress who checked on us regularly left lasting impressions. Villa cleaning was impeccable, almost magical, as we never encountered staff during the process, but the room was always perfectly prepared. The spa treatments, though pricey, were worth every penny. We also went on a dolphin-spotting trip, which was wonderful, despite the number of boats from nearby locations. This, however, is more about Malé's proximity than the resort itself. Baros is ideal for those seeking tranquility, romance, and a beautiful house reef with top-notch service. Families with young children might prefer livelier resorts with more activities. We spent evenings playing billiards, strolling, or simply sitting on our villa’s terrace enjoying the ocean—those serene moments will linger in our hearts.
