To put it more accurately, the entire Phrygian Valley north of Afyon is composed of mountains and caves similar to those in Cappadocia, and a particularly concentrated and spectacular section is located right in the town of Ayazini. Next, let's talk about the highlights of the trip: 1. The Phrygians, an ancient Anatolian people closely related to the ancient Greeks, were active primarily from the 12th to the 5th centuries BC and were the earliest developers of this valley; 2. Later, the ancient Romans, Byzantines, and Seljuks further developed this area, with the Byzantines leaving the most ruins. Rock castles, rock churches, rock tombs, and rock mansions are all present, though not as large as Cappadocia, they are still scattered throughout the mountains; 3. The minibuses from Afion stop in the town center. The town itself is well-developed, with its Ottoman-style classical houses combined with modern creative decorations, making it quite charming. Some artistic styles [Figures 1-4]; 4. After getting off the bus, follow the scenic avenue (about 2 kilometers) and you will pass several important attractions. They are not clearly marked on Google Maps, but I roughly call them "The courtyard-style cafe converted from a rock church" [Figure 5], "The Rock Mansion Area" [Figure 6], "The Rock Canyon" [Figure 7], "The Rock Castle and Town Hall" [Figures 8-9], "The Rock Church Complex" [Figure 10], "The Twin Lions Stone Carving" [Figure 11], and "The Byzantine Church" [Figure 12]; 5. If you are driving, there are many other interesting attractions along this valley (some of which are featured in special exhibitions at the Afion Museum) [Figure 13]: Avdalaz Castle (a large cave castle), Aslantaş-Yılantaş (lion-carved tombs), Bayramaliler kalesi (spectacular tower-shaped rock formations), Frig Kral Yolu (ancient royal road), Aslankaya Temple (rock temples and monuments), Maltaş ören yeri (temples with stone carvings), Memeç Kaya Kilisesi (a rock castle and church featured in a film), Kırk merdiven kayalıkları (a cave over water), and many more.
