The hotel is right by the city walls, and some rooms even offer views of them. The room was a bit small but very clean and tidy, and it even had a bathtub – perfect for a relaxing soak after exploring the old town. It's only a ten-minute walk to York Minster and The Shambles, and it's wonderfully peaceful to visit them in the mornings and evenings before the crowds arrive. The English breakfast was decent, and you can enjoy views of the old town from the dining area on the first floor.

Had a lovely time. Great location, lovely staff and very comfortable room. Tasty breakfast and plenty of it. Will be back

Lovely hotel and all staff were more than accommodating. However the room did have a very strange mark on the carpet in our room and there seemed to be a hole in the floor within the stain. Very strange but overall would stay again!

I booked a week in advance, but when I arrived, the hotel claimed they hadn't received my reservation. Trip.com helped me communicate with them for a while, and eventually, after speaking to the manager, they found my booking and finally assigned me a room. However, the hygiene was very poor. I could hear snoring from the next room and footsteps from upstairs quite clearly. The hot water was also inconsistent, some of the towels had an odor, and the tiles in the bathtub were loose. There were no other rooms available to switch to. All in all, it definitely didn't live up to its price or star rating.

I stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton York for a short visit and, while the location was reasonably convenient, the overall experience fell short of expectations for a Hilton-branded hotel. I was upgraded to a room located across the car park from the main building, accessed via stairs and without central heating. Instead, the room relied on standing portable heaters, which wasn’t ideal — especially given the wet weather and the need to walk outside to reach the room. The room itself felt quite tired and dated, with noticeably creaky floorboards both inside the room and from neighbouring rooms, which made it hard to fully relax. The location is decent enough, but if you’re travelling by public transport there are better areas of York to stay in that offer easier access and a nicer overall setting. I didn’t try the breakfast, as there are plenty of good local options nearby, which I enjoyed instead, so I don’t feel I missed out. One small disappointment was that coffee wasn’t available outside of breakfast hours. Overall, with so many good accommodation options in York, I’m not likely to stay here again.

The location is convenient, just a 5-minute walk from York Minster, making it close to the city center. Overall, it was clean, but when I first checked in, there were several hairs from a previous guest on the bathroom floor, and when I opened the curtains, the window sill was very dusty. The cleaning attention to detail was lacking. I stayed for 5 nights, but bottled water was only provided on the first day. The facilities are quite old; flushing the toilet wasn't just a simple press, I had to push it with both hands for a long time with all my strength to get it to flush. It's listed as a 4-star hotel, but due to its age, it didn't really feel like a 4-star experience.

Not what you expect from a Hilton hotel. Small rooms in separate buildings. We were put into a tiny room with no Aircon as it was broken, the wall lights didn’t work and the toilet wouldn’t flush. After a trip to the reception we were moved but it’s not a hotel we will return to.

Had a very comfortable stay with great amenities. Loved the location of the hotel, the bar and Restraunt serve great food and drinks. Would highly recommend Hilton to people visiting York for leisure or work.

The hotel rooms are quite run down especially where we were right at the back Room 45. We had no remote to use the Air Conditioning during the hottest days we’ve had this year. Went to reception and they said someone would be with us in 15 minutes. Waiting 45 but we had a restaurant booking in the city so could not wait around. Water in the shower randomly goes scolding hot .  Not a hotel I’d return to unfortunately which is a shame because most other Doubletree hotels I’ve stayed in have been great.

Staff were very friendly & helpful. Room clean & tidy, though a bit dated & in need of some refurbishment. Bed very comfy Breakfast had a good variety of choices Good location for getting into York centre While I appreciate my stay was a BH weekend, the cost was excessively high for one night.

Nice hotel but the fire alarm went off in the night in error and had no apology

The hotel is conveniently located close to the city walls, Butcher's Row, and the church, with many restaurants nearby. The hygiene was good, and the lobby was spacious. However, the room was very small, there was no Wi-Fi, and getting in and out was inconvenient. The hotel parking lot was also very small, requiring guests to park in an external lot.

Check in was easy and the front desk, restaurant, and bar staff were great. The menu at the restaurant is very limited...not many healthy choices and very few starters for those who would just like small bites. There needs to be more restaurant and bar staff ! one person serving the bar and restaurant ? Not fair to staff or your guests. When we were there we were not told the restaurant was closing early because of a large tour group so my friend who joined us later was unable to order anything. The room was also quite dark so I would suggest adding more lighting. That being said, good location and clean!
