Hampton Inn by Hilton Yopal – A Deeply Disappointing Experience After more than ten years as a Hilton Honors Diamond member and countless stays at Hilton properties worldwide, I never expected that an **80-night stay** could leave me this disappointed. Unfortunately, the Hampton Inn by Hilton Yopal delivered what was, without question, the worst Hilton experience I have had in over a decade. Before anything else, I want to make one point absolutely clear: **the front desk staff, housekeeping team, and breakfast staff were consistently friendly, courteous, and genuinely tried to help.** My criticism is directed almost entirely at the hotel's management and administration. The fish rots from the head we say in Europe. The incompetence of the administration is unheard of. During my stay, I experienced repeated operational failures: two nighttime fire alarms that disrupted my sleep, several air-conditioning failures (including one lasting approximately a day and a half in temperatures above 30°C), frequent hot water outages, and several days when only one of the hotel's two elevators was working, causing long delays. What frustrated me most, however, was not the technical problems themselves—it was the way they were handled. Or …not at all handled. Throughout my stay I repeatedly reported these issues and was assured that Hilton Honors points or complimentary nights would be provided as compensation. I accepted these promises in good faith and chose not to escalate the situation. **None of those promises were ever fulfilled.** It also took more than three weeks for my Hilton Honors stay points to be credited, something I found difficult to understand for a global hotel brand. After spending 80 nights at this property, my impression is that the hotel's management lacks the organization, accountability, Talent, wisdom and customer focus that guests should reasonably expect from a Hilton-branded hotel. Rather than resolving issues promptly, I repeatedly experienced delays, unfulfilled commitments, and poor follow-through. As a long-time Diamond member, I felt that my loyalty was neither recognized nor valued. Another disappointing issue was the room description. The hotel advertises a **large refrigerator**, but my room contained only a small minibar. When I raised this with the hotel manager, I was told the description would be corrected. To the best of my knowledge, it remained unchanged during my stay. I believe the published room descriptions should accurately reflect the amenities guests actually receive. I also questioned the hotel's decision to begin charging VAT on reward stays booked entirely with Hilton Honors points during my stay. I have asked Hilton to review whether this practice is consistent with the Hilton Honors program rules and applicable local regulations. Before posting this review, I gave the hotel management an opportunity to resolve these issues. I set a deadline for a response, and I was assured I would receive one.
