The Westin Yokohama
Latest booking 13 hrs ago
No reserved parking for hotel guests. Guests have to walk in the winter cold, and unfortunately during my stay all the surrounding car parks were full due to an event at the arena directly adjacent to the Westin. So a good 10m walk. Subsequent days, the parking directly adjacent to the hotel was available. Unloading of luggage wasn't as swift as hoped, a sole female receptionist had to struggle with my full sized heavy suitcases. She was helpful and tried her best with my family helping. Waiter at breakfast irked me - after waiting for water for some time, my father in law tried to help himself to a jug, only to be told ”this is not for you - this is for lunch time”. Obviously unacceptable and I made the person very clearly aware of that. Hardware fantastic. Beautiful design and generous rooms. Great gym. Aesthetically the entire hotel is great and with understated style. Compared to other five star hotels in Japan the concierge is a particular weak point. I've been blessed in previous Japan trips with concierges who are helpful, give great advice and tips on restaurants, bars, sites; however Westin Yokohama concierge was unable to recommend any nor was it able to help. secure any bookings. The end result whether intentionally or not, always seemed to revert back to a recommendation of their own hotel restaurants. Is it the inexperience? Is it the training or lack thereof? Whatever it is, until it is rectified I cannot fully recommend this hotel.
