Penglai Wencheng Castle Hotel

Hygiene: There was a tissue under the bed when I entered the room. Environment: The surroundings outside the room are indeed lovely, it's a scenic spot. Service: The front desk opened the door for me when I left my room card inside. Facilities: Old, dilapidated, worn out. It felt eerie at night.

The rooms are very spacious, and the bathrooms are clean and well-maintained. The main draw is the beautiful surroundings – it feels like you're combining a hotel stay with a visit to a scenic attraction! After breakfast, you can easily spend half a day just wandering around and exploring the area.

I chose this hotel specifically because it was featured in the movie 'Hello Mr. Billionaire'. The grounds are full of filming locations, making it great for photo opportunities. Parking was very convenient. The only downside is its 15km distance from Penglai District, which made dining options a bit inconvenient.

Stepping inside, it felt like I'd walked into a Viennese concert hall. This luxurious, vintage Gothic castle truly makes you feel like a princess. It's a definite must-do experience, and it offers great value for money.

The castle clearly showcases a wealthy owner's high-end taste, but unfortunately, its operation is subpar. Upon check-in, the front desk couldn't find my reservation and were openly whispering about it. I was particularly taken aback when they informally referred to my parents as 'uncle' and 'auntie' – quite unprofessional for a luxury establishment. Only breakfast is available, and its quality was good. However, we had to arrange our own lunch and dinner, as surrounding amenities are still lacking. We had to travel quite a distance to find food. The hotel itself is stunning. The only minor issue was the lack of sufficient lighting; it made the place feel a bit too mysterious and less like the grand, opulent castle portrayed in films. It's a bit of a missed opportunity.

The room amenities are a bit dated, and the common areas felt a little spooky after the lights were turned off at night.

The old castle is quite impressive, making it ideal for photography enthusiasts, visitors interested in movie filming locations, and those on a quick sightseeing tour. Things to Note: - If you plan to stay overnight, request a higher-floor room to lessen humidity, and remember to bring your own toiletries and snacks. - Expect massive crowds and potentially reduced service quality during peak season (e.g., summer); off-peak travel is highly recommended. - It's best visited as part of a broader itinerary that includes nearby attractions like Penglai Pavilion and the Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea, rather than as a standalone destination.

Everywhere held a pleasant surprise, and staying in a seaside castle was absolutely fantastic.
