We were so happy to find such an amazing hotel. Beautiful Architecture, amazing location and the staff consistently went above and beyond to help us every step of the way. Olivia was fantastic at helping us through WeChat. You have to stay here if you're in the area.

Sugar House was absolutely wonderful, very special and unique experience for us. Not only the views are beautiful here, but also the service and the people who create it! We felt absolutely caring, every staff member we met was exceptionally polite, attentive to details, and highly professional, which made our stay feel very personal and relaxed. This place is filled with tranquillity and comfort, it pays tribute to the traditions of this region and preserves the historical heritage in its appearance. Everything is thought out to the smallest detail. Make sure you explore the beautiful surroundings and enjoy unique activities that Yangshuo is famous for. The room is very spacious and elegant, and the resort grounds are exquisite. The dedicated butler service is a thoughtful touch, with constant greetings. Breakfast is also good!

The hotel has beautiful views and a unique style. They even offer complimentary travel photography and activities for kids. My only minor complaint is that the room wasn't very spacious.

Had an amazing experience in the hotel. The room was clean and I didn’t hear any noise from the road. The territory is picturesque, and the water in the pool was warm enough to swim. The restaurant on the territory of the hotel serves extremely delicious meals, both of European and Chinese cuisine. The hotel stuff (especially Cindy and Olivia) is very kind and friendly.

The grounds contain stunning aesthetics compared to the sameness of the typical lux resort. The service was beyond outstanding. I travelled with my wife and 2 year old and the staff were extremely accomodating of our needs. Incredibly impressed and will be back.

The hotel's design is truly distinctive, and its location is great with a beautiful environment. Every service detail was thoughtful. Both breakfast and dinner at the hotel were incredibly rich and delicious, and service requests were met promptly. They were almost always able to accommodate personalized requests, and the anniversary cake was of excellent quality, which was very touching. However, the room decor was simple, and the facilities were dated. There was mold growing in the bathroom corners, no bathtub or smart toilet, and the floors were discolored. The afternoon tea was a bit basic, but the staff were proactive and enthusiastic with their service. We even received a parting gift, for which we are very grateful! 🙏 Wishing them all the best for the future.

The Sugar House Yangshuo is, without question, one of the most visually striking and thoughtfully designed properties in the China. The architecture and restoration of the former sugar mill are exceptional, blending industrial heritage with modernism in a way that feels both unique and intentional. The grounds are immaculate, the setting along the Li River is serene, and the overall atmosphere is refined and memorable. From a “hard product” perspective, it stands out as one of the best boutique properties in China. That said, at its price point, the experience falls short of what would be expected from a true luxury hotel, largely due to service inconsistencies and operational gaps. One recurring issue was the presence of outside visitors or tour groups entering the property to take photos. At times this became disruptive, with noise and even instances of people taking photos toward our private balcony. For a hotel positioning itself at the luxury level, access control and guest privacy should be much tighter. Service, particularly in the restaurant, was uneven. Breakfast service was noticeably slow, with insufficient staff during peak periods. Similarly, room service lacked attention to detail, for example, beers were delivered warm, which should not happen at this level. More concerning was the lack of basic guest support from the front desk. When assistance was requested to order medicine, staff declined and instead suggested that we arrange it ourselves via *******. This is a simple concierge task that a hotel of this caliber should handle seamlessly. The pool area is a missed opportunity. Although it looks great in photos (and we really appreciated the complimentary photo service), the pool is unheated, making it largely unusable outside of peak summer. There is no proactive service, guests must go inside to the bar to place orders, and there is no assistance with towels or general poolside service. The absence of a hot tub or accessible spa facilities further limits the leisure offering. Additionally, while the hotel advertises a range of activities, availability was inconsistent. Rafting was said to be unavailable due to safety concerns, despite visible activity on the river, and attempts to arrange rock climbing were unsuccessful without alternative suggestions being provided. A very nice DJ both is in the bar, but in our three nights over a weekend, no music was played. This creates a gap between expectation and delivery. In summary, the Sugar House Yangshuo excels in design, setting, and overall concept, and it remains a highly memorable place to stay. However, the service model and operational execution do not yet align with its pricing. At USD 300–400 per night, guests should expect a more polished, proactive, and guest-centric experience, something that many significantly cheaper hotels in China currently deliver more reliably.

The hotel is set in a beautiful landscape, the breakfast is delicious and our whole stay was so relaxing! Highly recommendable for a getaway - everyone was lovely and we really enjoyed our stay. The view from our balcony was especially stunning and the room was very luxurious.

The hotel service was really good, and the environment was pleasant. The room was clean, hygienic, and very quiet. It's perfect for friends or family trips. Both adults and kids will love the animals and crafts. Although the breakfast selection wasn't huge, the taste was excellent.

I stayed here back in 2017 and it left a deep impression. Nine years later, I've brought my family to check it out again, and it feels like the hotel hasn't changed much; it's still very well-maintained overall. It seems to be quite popular internationally now, as I'd estimate nearly half the guests are from overseas. The Chinese restaurant at night, however, wasn't as good as I remembered; there's definitely a lot of room for improvement.

Highly recommended this hotel to everyone especially young couples, there are a lot of activities to keep you occupied the whole day, including bamboo rafting where they have their own pier to allow hotel guests to enjoy the activity without having to travel far. Do also note that it can be extremely dark at night as there are little lighting around the hotel so it might not be suitable for elderly. All in all, it was a great stay at the hotel and the photoshoot session is good too, photographer's name is 阿南

The most beautiful hotel, i've ever been to. Excellent service, the architecture is a work of art and sets the experience. I really recommend, You can get there from Xingping with the public bus an step out right in front. Very peaceful, I really recommend and will be coming back

Lovely hotel with a rustic vibe. Amenities and activities are good but service doesn’t live up to the expectation. They only have one English speaking staff and she’s in charge of the reception, considering they have a huge number of foreigners checked in. Restaurant service was pretty bad. Staff didn’t get our order right and no one speaks English. Photo service for room 508 was very good. I love the results and the photographer was amazing and very accommodating. SPA massage was excellent and the SPA itself has very calming feeling. Location is perfect, it’s solemn and quiet yet not far from main town.
