If you want to go skiing and need an affordable hotel/hostel apart from the overprized onsen or ski hotels, please do yourself a favour and do not book this dump of a hostel. Rather stay in a nice hotel in Nagano for the same price, the ski areas are easily reachable from there within 45 minutes and some even offer a shuttle service. Kerosene heater is switching off by itself every 2 hours with a lot of noise. Kerosene smell all the time. If you do not switch it on, you will be freezing within 5 minutes. When other guests are arriving or leaving, you will hear it. So come here if you do not want to get ANY sleep. Literally everything is run down and dirty. For 4 people, we only got 2 duvet covers, very hygienic. The futons are hard and old. The toilet is small and the toilet seat hasn't been changed in decades. The sink is rusty. The female onsen is laughable. Online photos dont match current state of the house. I have been traveling to Japan for a decade now. Never ever have I experienced such a run down and unwelcoming accomodation for such a high rate. Refund after checking out after 1 night for 2 remaining nights was declined of course. Avoid.

The location was good but the building seemed like it was falling apart. Note: YOU DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO PUBLIC ONSENS WHEN STAYING HERE.

It is perfect for male travelers because the onsen is spectacular. On the other female onsen is super small and old. The rooms are not maintained, and they are falling apart. Tous the bigger issue was that the hostel doesn't belong to the hotel association so you won't be allowed to use the public onsens in the town

The parking lot was far away and hard to find. There was a sign that there was a jacuzzi in the room, but there wasn't. There was a sign that there was a ping-pong table in the hotel, but there wasn't. There weren't enough power outlets in the room. The elevator prioritized luggage. There was insufficient information about the baths in the hot spring town. You can't enter without a guest key, so please stop telling people about them. They made us take two rooms, even though three people could stay in one.

The hotel is quite old. The rooms are ryokan style and a bit dusty. There is no private bathroom. Parking is inconvenient.

Old hotel, no air conditioning, but for the price it seems like a good deal.

The hostess of this shop is very young and beautiful with a smile on her face! The temperament is very good👌👍! I visited this "hot spring street" and indeed the price of this "ape" youth hostel is the most affordable! Attached are the photos taken. It's less than 1,000 Taiwan dollars per person per night! This kind of hot spring hotel is really cheap! The hostess of this shop is very young and beautiful with a smile on her face! The temperament is very good👌👍! Hostel with traditional Japanese rooms, futons to lay out on the floor, and traditional under-table heating where you sit with your legs under the table and get lovely and warm. There are (seperate male and female) onsens downstairs, which were really hot (too hot for me to get into, but I enjoyed interacting with the Japanese family who were much better at getting in). My husband said the mens baths had an outdoor area, I don't know if the ladies also had one which I missed or not. Note that you can hire towels from reception if you haven't brought your own. We chose this because it was close to the snow monkeys so we could walk there rather than get the bus (approx 20 mins walk to the entrance, then about 25 mins walk up the path), but I'm so glad we did because it was a wonderful place to stay. We booked a room with shared bathroom (because that was all we could see online) but when we checked in the receptionist offered us the chance to upgrade to one with our own toilet which we did (only about 1200 Yen more). There was a communal kitchen area on the floor below ours, which was useful for making hot drinks, would have been a bit of a struggle to do much more than that I think, although there were lots of pots and pans. We arrived a bit early and had hoped to drop our bags at reception before check-in time, but the doors were locked so we carried on down the road and explored the delighful area and found a lovely little beer taphouse, so the time passed quickly and enjoyably! For food, we walked down to a Ramen noodle house just down the hill (cash only) which was very popular and got full soon after we got there with people queuing for tables. There didn't seem to be too many other places to eat in the close vacinity.
