It's a very cozy hotel with spacious rooms. It's run by an elderly person; he was the one who greeted us, cleaned the rooms, and even served breakfast. He paid attention to every detail, and I really admire him. The only downside is that the hotel is a bit out of the way. It's a 20-minute walk from the train station (according to GPS), and there's not much to do around there. Staying near Shibu Onsen might allow for some evening strolls.

This is a relatively old hot spring inn, so the facilities are quite dated. Some of the washi paper in the rooms was torn, and the taps would freeze due to the weather, requiring more than 5 minutes of continuous boiling before hot water was available. There's no elevator, so you have to carry your luggage upstairs. However, it's very close to Yudanaka Station, within a 10-minute walk (there's a slope). There are also many small shops and restaurants nearby. The hot spring facilities are quite old, and the water is very hot. The receptionist speaks excellent English and is very welcoming, treating guests like friends. Many foreigners stay here.
