Novotel Xi'an Xinxing

This Novotel, supposedly directly managed by Accor, can be summed up in three words: 'absolutely awful.' It's clearly an old hotel that has been poorly renovated. Upon entering, the front desk looked utterly unprofessional, and the staff weren't even wearing Novotel uniforms. The overall service attitude was incredibly mediocre, completely lacking any warmth or friendliness. On the first night, the power outlets were about 1.8 meters from the bed, and there was no table underneath to charge devices. Due to travel fatigue, I slept until the afternoon on the second day, only to be woken up by housekeeping knocking on the door. Despite having the 'Do Not Disturb' sign on, they attempted to enter my room using their key card. What if the door hadn't been locked, or if I hadn't been in the room? Would housekeeping have just entered without permission? I reported this to Ctrip, and their customer service was excellent, which I appreciate. The hotel's compensation offer included a room change, breakfast, and late check-out. After confirming the new room, we went out to explore. That evening, back in the room, while sitting on the corner sofa, I seemingly bumped into an old floor lamp... The lampshade was incredibly loose, and it just fell straight down, hitting my shoulder. Furthermore, nearly all the room's lighting controls were broken, except for the master on/off switch (see video). The bathroom light was linked to the room's main strip lighting, making it impossible to turn on just the bathroom light, which was extremely inconvenient when getting up at night. I woke up feeling hot in the morning and realized the air conditioning was blowing hot air. I initially thought the AC was broken, but then I walked into the corridor, and it was perfectly cool... The hotel offered no solutions whatsoever. I genuinely don't understand how a hotel bearing the Novotel name can be managed this poorly. It was utterly dreadful and cast a shadow over our entire trip. Seriously, if you can avoid staying here, do so. It's truly terrible. The room's window insulation was also completely useless; there were virtually no redeeming qualities.

What kind of Accor Live Limitless property is this? This is *not* a Novotel hotel! It doesn't even come close to Novotel's standards. The hotel's facilities, the front desk staff's attire, and the lobby's ambiance are all miles away from what one would expect from the Novotel brand. Please don't tarnish Novotel's reputation among consumers. The overall experience was simply terrible.

Pretty good overall. The service was also fine, and it offered excellent value for money!

The room was much more spacious than it appeared in the photos. The memory foam mattress provided ideal comfort, being neither too soft nor too firm – I never wanted to leave the bed! As a light sleeper, I was truly impressed that I slept soundly until morning; the soundproofing is genuinely superb! The bathroom featured excellent wet/dry separation, and hot water was instant. Premium brand toiletries were provided (not generic ones); truly, the attention to detail was impeccable. The most pleasant surprise was the front desk staff, who proactively upgraded me to a room with a stunning city night view and even included a complimentary welcome fruit platter. When checking out, as I was in a rush, the front desk kindly arranged for my luggage to be stored. Later in the afternoon, when I collected it, they even reminded me to take an umbrella, as it was raining outside – their service was genuinely heartwarming.
