Let's start with the front desk. I booked a Deluxe Queen Room and specifically requested a quiet one. When I arrived, they told me the only room available was right in the corner, facing another building's air conditioning units, which would be noisy. Are you kidding me? What was the point of my request? And why didn't anyone call me in advance? They then offered me a twin room – why would I need a twin room when I'm traveling alone? Finally, they said they'd upgrade me to a Premium Queen Room. Are you serious? My Ctrip booking already included a free upgrade, so I didn't get any upgrade at all! The 'upgraded' room was even smaller than those in budget hotels like Home Inn or Hanting. The door was right at the foot of the bed, and the sink was by the entrance. The soundproofing was absolutely terrible; I heard doors slamming and people talking in the hallway all night, plus the noise from the street outside. I barely slept a wink! It's understandable coming from a Huazhu Hotels Group property, I guess. As for the afternoon tea and meditation perks, the front desk didn't mention a word about them from check-in to check-out, so I never got to enjoy those 'privileges.' The staff members were all cold and indifferent. Before leaving, I was waiting for a car outside the hotel entrance, and two staff members kept walking back and forth directly in front of me, forcing me to stand in the corner. Absolutely terrible!
