A characterful coaching inn in the centre of this beautiful Cotswolds town with modern, comfortable and spacious rooms, a small but cosy and atmospheric bar, a nice restauant, good beer, good food and friendly and helpful proprietor. Will definitely stay here again.

Excellent Sunday Roast as always ….. advise booking as can get very busy… Got there for 12pm , choice of pork, beef , chicken and this week they had lamb on the menu , delicious Fresh veg and cauliflower cheese , homemade giant Yorkshire pudding , best roast potatoes ever and very tasty gravy … I love the way they serve their roasts , not all plonked on the plate … Everything in dishes to help yourself . Will be returning again and again . Just to add , all the staff are lovely

I liked the home-made soup and fresh bread; great fish but frustratingly the chips were covered in salt – it would be far better to let guests put salt on their food if they want salt, I didn’t. Service was slow but friendly. For a hotel lounge bar lunch it was very good.

After walking a section of the Cotswold Way we rocked up as a group of 10 on a Sunday night and were welcomed into the dining room which was really warm and nicely decorated. We really enjoyed the Sunday lunch which was served ‘family style’ in large enamel dishes with lots of gravy. It was top notch and highly recommended. Service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommend.

Where do I start, came here for a Sunday lunch with a group of friends, took 30 mins to get seated in what was almost an empty restaraunt. We was offered no water for the table, there was no check back done to see if we was enjoying food. The beef looked like my exe’s OF and roast potatoes had been put through the microwave and the best thing about it was the door on the way out and even that got stuck.

A lovely surprise to find this Inn. Our room was immaculate and quiet but was on the dinky side. The hotel is ideally located for the market town and parking was easy to find, within 50 yards of the front door. We travelled with our two little terriers which were welcomed (£10/dog). We enjoyed a three course meal in the restaurant and the food was pub classics done well. The light breakfast was adequate. We ordered a hot meal just because we fancied it but it wasn’t necessary, there was a good choice of fresh fruit, yoghurt and pastries on offer at no charge. All in all, a pleasant stay and we’ve already booked to return.

We were not told our room was up 4 flights of stairs and 2 long corridors. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, we could feel the springs. Flat pillows. Cheap bedding. Outdated. The food was not good at all. Eggs Benedict served on refrigerator cold ham. Steak pies had gristle and fat. The beef burger was inedible. Full of onions (not listed), the consistency of dog food. Chicken pasta dish was tasteless and the chicken seemed like it came from a can. With all the negatives, the staff were nice though.

We stayed for a night when visiting friends during Christmas week. The atmosphere was what you’d expect from a very old, quirky, coaching Inn. Some areas are still being refurbished, but that didn’t bother us. Our room was newly refurbished, warm and spotlessly clean. The bed was huge and really comfortable with good quality linen. The bonus of the view added another dimension. Dinner, again was as expected, good quality and the waiting staff were very pleasant. I was a bit disappointed that the festive menu was not available during Christmas week. Some of the dishes on that menu sounded delicious. The light breakfast suited us and was plentiful with a good choice. The coffee was particularly good. We would stay again when visiting the area.

We had the misfortune to stay on Friday 15th Dec in room 1. The room was lovely and well appointed but was positioned above the bar. The noise in the room from the bar till after midnight was completely unacceptable. We had travelled since 4am on Friday morning so a good night sleep was very important to us and we were unable to get this. The guy on reception said we're knew what we were getting as we booked online - very poor response. Nowhere online did it mention noise would prevent us from sleeping. We have stayed here many times in the past but we will not be doing so again. Would not recommend this Hotel again due to this experience and poor response from the Hotel.
