Went with my husband and 2 children and was disappointed in the quality and price of food. The children’s meals were reasonable but the two adult meals were overpriced for what we had. I had a chicken pie with veg and asked for some gravy with this. The lady told me she believed it came with gravy but would check. My meal came and I had to wait another 5 mins for the gravy to arrive which was ok but very watery. When the bill arrived I had been charged £3 extra for the gravy so chicken pie, some veg (broccoli, cauliflower and Carrot) with a scoop of mash and watery gravy cos me £21. My husband ordered the balmoral chicken which was 2 small chicken breasts on some mash potato, black pudding and some peppercorn sauce - no extra veg provided for £18. He was still hungry after eating his meal. A glass of wine cost me £8 and a pint cost £5.50. I don’t mind paying a bit more if you get a decent meal and you feel full and satisfied which we did not.

Very good service, food was good, looked after our dog by making sure he had water available. Lovely interior and ambience. Prices were a tad on the higher side compared to other places but we knew that before we went. The only thing which let the place down in my opinion, was no real ale served, I had to settle for a bottle! Wasn’t expecting that and really disappointed by this. It will stop me going again if in the area.

We booked a table for party of six with three dogs to see out the old year on the 31st Dec 23. One of our party was dissatisfied with her main course, quite rightly considering. The No1 reacted brilliantly to the complaint, taking both the main course and pudding off the final bill. Myself I ordered the cheese board at the end of the meal, a mountain of cheese arrived as a little further compensation, which went down well. We had a visit from the Chef to the table to apologize for the main course. Followed by another visit from her when kitchen service had finished to feed ham to the dogs! Despite that one dish, the rest of us thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Following the complaint the service to deal with it was exceptional. We will return when visiting Wooler again. The day before we also called for drinks and were really pleased with the service we received, the staff set an example others in hospitality could learn from. Phil

We have had lunch here twice now, both times really really incredible food. A really satisfying and interesting range of food available for vegetarians which isn’t always the case and the portions are huge. We’ll definitely be back! One of the few places on a Thursday that we could find to eat lunch in Wooler as well.

Overnight stay with friends for their wedding anniversary. Rooms are beautiful and so clean! Pleasantly surprised to find an iron and ironing board in the wardrobe too. Only gripe that I have is that the pillows were a little flat but didn't stop us having a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed. Bar downstairs was lovely, a little chilly but the welcome was more than warm enough. A lovely little bar/hotel that we'd be very happy to visit again.

We stayed for a couple of nights and it was wonderful. The rooms are beautiful and the food was outstanding. Breakfast was just wonderful and the service was the best we have had in a long time . Mandy and her team went above and beyond and we will be visiting again very soon.

Popped in for lunch on a weekday, there didn't seem to be anywhere else open for food, yet the town was generally busy. Really nice decor and extensive choice of food on the menu. The sandwiches arrived and they definitely were a bit meh for the price ! my main gripe was the description was incorrect for 'crispy' bacon. The bacon was fatty and far from crispy, it was borderline cooked - they couldn't have been pushed for time to cook it as there was only us and another couple in the restaurant !!! Won't recommend this place to friends/family as no matter how nice somewhere looks the food needs to deliver, especially at these prices.

We had dinner here and it was delicious! Service was great, friendly, very accommodating and down to earth. Food was excellent quality and very tasty. Menu is varied and something for everyone. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with good choice of music in the background.
