Econo Lodge Woodland Near I-5

I was prepared to give this hotel a 10. Front desk check us in with Military precision, I swear it took 6 minutes. We had just traveled from Washington to Sacramento, we were tired and just wanted a shower and sleep. So, fast check in was a bonus, no small talk just in and out. The room was fine, no carpet on the floor, so looked renovated. Then we heard it, the drip drip drip of the shower (before we showered). We tried everything to make it stop but it was too fast. I'll be honest, at this point I was dead tired and cranky. All our gear was in from the car, and it was late, I had no desire to move rooms so I didn't call the front desk. If this place is family owned and run, they already knew that the the shower was leaking. Unless no one ever went in to clean, they should have been aware. A leak that fast doesn't just start. We tried towels on the floor, a facecloth around the shower head, moving the head, nothing worked. The thing dripped every second. We had the worst sleep (I cried at one point) and will not return. There is no one there from 12 to 6 so there was no one to tell, so I left a note. I wish the Rodeway Inn hadn't closed.

Hotels are hotels and we stay in a lot of them. As long as the basics are covered, they're mostly distinguishable because of what DOESN'T work well - if the cleaners have been a little lax, or the sheets are scratchy, or the mattress is beyond its expiration date. This hotel ticked all the usual boxes for comfort and cleanliness, as promised. What made it notable was Jeff. He was the desk clerk when I checked in, personable, professional and cheerfully helpful. I was using a walker and he smoothed the process for me in so many ways- opening doors, wrestling luggage, selecting a suitable room, and a number of other kindnesses. His service was exceptional and far beyond what might have been expected. Well done!

Great value. A little out of the way but access to the freeway was easy. Clean, updated & quiet. Appreciated the microwave & refrigerator. The breakfast was a nice surprise. There was a homeless person at the nearby gas station but none surrounding the property. Parking was a little tight, we got in late & took the last stall.

After several very mediocre stays in Choice properties at all levels, this was a welcomed break. After being inadvertently placed in a room which hadn’t been cleaned, we were moved to a clean room which was overall pleasing. Despite the evening hour at which we checked in, the general manager, Victor, was on duty to see to our immediate needs. He was also there the next morning, inquiring as to how the rest of our stay had been, showing a genuine concern for guest satisfaction. Breakfast that morning, although being pretty much ‘standard fare’ for Choice properties, was well prepared & presented, making for a good start on s new day.
