The Westin Wilmington

Wilmington|2.3km from downtown
We stayed here 3 nights for a wedding held at the Chase Center. We've stayed in many Westins before, but this stay clearly showed us how poor in quality Westin standards have gone down. We requested an early check-in in advance through both the app and calling the reception, but had to wait a very long time for a double queen after being told the rooms were not inspected yet. When we finally got our room, we were disappointed to see the used and abused furnishings, particularly the desk with many markings over it. Our shower had drainage issues that we had initially fixed, but then continued throughout our stay. There was no shower gel, and barely any shampoo or conditioner in the tubes in the shower. None of the trash bins had any liners in them (how unsanitary!). Housekeeping was a pain to get a hold of; other people in our wedding party were told cleanings that included changing the sheets were only every 3 days (I've only had timeshare resorts tell me that before). I had to flag people down in the hallway for towels. Our wedding party had a couple suites booked and it was disappointing to see how dilapidated and dark the suite rooms looked, especially the furnishings that are long overdue to be changed with stains and threads hanging off everywhere. What really got me on this stay was that on our second night after all the wedding events transpired, we tried using the elevator to go back up to our room only to hear people trapped inside banging on the elevator doors for 10 min. I flagged a guy at reception to come help and he brushed it off so easily saying ”it's due to the pressure effects, they'll be back up on their floor soon.” As a physician, I told him this was an urgent matter as we don't know how many people are stuck in there and God forbid someone has a panic attack in there and passes out. I told him that elevator needs to be put out of service if it keeps stopping like this. He didn't give a damn and just walked away. It turns out it was my family members stuck in there for over 10 minutes. I find this to be so negligent of the hotel staff- I'm sure you'll have a lawsuit coming your way when the elevator pulls another extended pause. I also realized there is no service elevator that the staff can use, so they also use the main guest elevator, further causing elevator traffic. Also, the location is just a stone’s throw away from sketchy neighborhoods. You definitely need a car to get around. The only good thing about this place was the convenience of being attached to the Chase Center; other than that this hotel definitely does not exude the Westin quality I used to love and know.

We’ve had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would really recommend it! The beds are comfy, the breakfast is great and the staff are wonderful!

Not sure about the rest of hotel, but avoid Room 201 ”Studio Suite” We've stayed here before, but will never stay at this hotel again. On this visit, we experienced the following: - smells like a dead skunk at distance or something soured in room (hits you when you go in room) - loose door handle to bathroom (both screws were almost fallen out, we fixed it) - very poor water pressure on sinks; asked front desk and they said they knew about it - shower handle broken, metal mechanism sticking out, but worked to start shower--seems like it will break off any minute - shower has a strange smell (not sure if coming from drain) - very, very slow draining on main sink (trap/pipe stem probably plugged up) - refrigerator not working, water at bottom of frig, probably mold forming - room not properly cleaned -- found toenail clippings under edge of bed - no lamp for desk - no USB ports anywhere in room - one chair in room, when there is plenty of room for two, if this is a suite type room - cold coffee in food area coffee pot (had to microwave) Good: - pet rates are very good - hair dryer works - beds look clean - microwave worked The smell alone was our main concern and should be for anyone staying in this room. We acclimated to it and just bode our time to get out of this place by morning.

In addition to a bit expensive, it is a very good hotel. The facilities are very complete, the front desk service is also good, the breakfast is a bit simple, but you can eat in the restaurant next door, and the traffic is very convenient.
DoubleTree by Hilton Downtown Wilmington - Legal District

It’s very simple, but the milk and bread are still available and can be eaten. Parking is very convenient, with a large parking lot, 16 knives a day. The room is quite large, and laying three large boxes on the ground does not affect your normal indoor walking activities. No extra bed needed, we booked a twin room, a family of three, and they are all big, very loose. Especially the service staff of the hotel is very good and very warm. We arrived at the middle of the night, showed me the booking procedure, let us check in early.

Old and beautiful hotel with good food in the restaurant.
Sheraton Suites Wilmington Downtown

The Sheraton name used to mean luxury. Not so much anymore now that it is merely one of Marriott's many and frequently indistinguishable brands. Let me say my room -- a suite really -- was huge ad comfortable. But only one, wire-mesh-backed chair to sit in at the work table. Small towels. A bathroom nightlight that was way too bright and could not be turned off. Still. overall, comfortable and with a fridge and a microwave. One you step out of your room, however, things fall apart. One of the elevator's floor display was burned out so you couldn't tell where you were, which was o compounded when it refused to stop on any floor and I was trapped on it for 15 minutes. And when I used the emergency phone, it rang 15 times before someone picked it up and said they only did so ”because they were passing by.” The hotel is, it appears, seriously understaffed. The lobby is a faded reminder of more bustling times. The revolving door is so slow one could die of old age in it. The decor is in need of updating. IT just seems slightly faded and frayed around the edges...
