The Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection

Washington|0.37km from downtown
I frequented the Mayflower in past years...The staff was amazing, the food was phenomenal. I actually think April Bloomfield was the in-house chef at one point. It was that place that you didn't mind spending money, because when you left you were so blown away, that it didn't matter. Then...I dont know if this is because of being bought by Auberge Resorts or the Management staff they hired, but little by little the once amazing Hotel/Restaurant became less desirable! The management was a bunch of young kids, looking like they just graduated from college. Who have zero life experience and no idea how to handle this level of issues. I was there more recently and was so disappointed. The food was not what it used to be, the cocktails were not nearly as innovative, the staff was standing around looking like they had zero idea what to do. A bunch of ”kids” were congregated at the host stand having...what looked to be a party. Not paying attention to what was going on and it was sad! This used to be a place of prestige and grace. This used to be a place people would travel long distances to enjoy. All because of how professional the staff was and the level of service provided was so notable. There was also a time when the staff would NEVER tell the guests ”No”. They would go out of their way to make your ”experience” unforgettable. Now, the word ”No” is the main word within their vocabulary. So, to pay $1000 to dine as if I am at the GW Tavern is not worth it. For all of that I may as well go to the GW Tavern, because I at least know the food quality and what to expect when I am there. There is a missing link in the chain somewhere and you need to find where it is and fix it, because you are loosing the ”Special” and ”Unique” quality that once made the Mayflower great. With all of the memories I have had dining at your establishment over the years. It upsets me to see how much has changed and not in a positive way.
