Inside the dorm room I stayed, there was dust and trash accumulated from weeks, if not months, ago in the corners and the area between the bed and the walls. The WC’s do not seem regularly cleaned. I accidentally dropped toothpaste on the floor in the hallway, and the stain stayed for three days. During the four days that I stayed, I only saw staff cleaning the common areas on my last day. I admit I wasn’t always at the hostel watching the staff clean. However, the fact that the toothpaste stain stayed on the floor for three days, and the hair and other stains stayed on the WC sink all the time convinced me that the WCs are not cleaned daily despite constant usage by many guests. Even the tables in the reception area have uncleaned stains for days!
Staff appear to not want to talk. The receptionist who was working at 11am on May 16 seemed lacking in energy, barely breathing out words. The “bartender” working at the bar on the 4th floor was rude. When I approached the bar, he snapped “I’m closed.” I wasn’t trying to order anything. I just wanted some tap water. After I said that, he didn’t say anything. Instead, he threw his chin in the direction of the water container. He may know where everything was at the hostel, but it was my first night there. How was I supposed to know where to look?! I felt like I was a beggar at his mercy for a great favor, not a paying guest.
The hostel’s systems are poorly managed. On my second morning, I came up for breakfast and was told I was not on the list. After arguing back and forth, the woman (in black hair, with glasses) at the bar called the front desk to verify. In fact, I had fully paid for breakfast more than a month before my arrival. When I brought this up with the receptionist, he said that the list given to the woman upstairs didn’t have my name. How irritating!
Unclean room, unprofessional staff, poorly organized, unstable wifi. Not recommended.
