Courtyard New Haven Wallingford

It’s all relative. If this was an Econolodge charging $79/night this is a three or perhaps even four star rating. The property is fairly clean, the people were nice and competent. There are some nice amenities like an in-house bar and sundries market. The problem is the name outside says Marriott (Courtyard by Marriott, to be more accurate) and by that scale this place is a dump. Speaking of dumps, who thought brown was a good color for the carpet? Maybe because it’s in the bathroom the designer had a subconscious idea to color match. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and there is a desk (I’m using right now). The sofa forced me to drink another beer first so I could connect with my old college days and not worry about anything that lingers in the fabric, also a brownish/rust colored wonder. I tried watching the TV but it appears to be an original flat screen from sometime in the G.W. Bush administration so I couldn’t see anything and reverted to my iPad. Back to the positive, there’s a microwave and a minifridge, though you would need to bring your own water as there’s none provided. WiFi is solid and the blackout curtains blackout the light. Oh, and the people were very polite and competent, a saving grace.

I was extremely happy and impressed with this hotel in every regard. Cleanliness, comfort, breakfast options, convenience etc. Everything was perfect. We were checked in by Carla who was incredibly friendly and helpful. Big shoutout to Carla and thanks to the entire staff!

The price is very high, quiet and clean, small and all you should have, the beds are slightly soft, the American air conditioner window sound is slightly louder, the rest is fine, the breakfast variety is not great but the quality is good, the simple egg sausages are delicious. Free parking, front desk and intimate caring, ice machine treadmill elliptical machine.

We stayed here while my older son was in Hockey camp. We originally booked a junior king suite. That was great for the three of us. The check in process was seamless. The staff was excellent and friendly. When it came time to pull out the couch to make up the bed, we found disturbing stains on the mattress. I went to the front desk and showed Jessica the pics I took of the stains. She immediately apologized on behalf of the hotel and switched our room. Boy were we upgraded! She put us in a one bedroom suite and it’s amazing. She was so kind and quick to help. We appreciate her so much and our stay has not only become comfortable, but on the luxurious side.
