Very nice quirky hotel near a train station. So what can I start to say? The hotel is not in the middle of the Vienna city centre but this is not a big problem. I would say, it is 7 minutes walk to the nearest train station. The train will take about 10 minutes to get you to the centre of town. There is a bus but we didn't opt for this. You can actually walk it to the town centre in under 30 minutes. At first it feels longer because you are trying to remember places but it isn't really far. Back to the hotel. This is a very nice quirky boutique type of hotel. Upon arrival, you enter and you are greeted with a bar which is very nice and designed. The receptionist is well spoken and very polite. I'm not sure why the other reviews gave the customer service negative but I can say it was really nice and smiling. Evening the next day, the other team are smiling. I think the place has 6 floors of bedrooms - obviously the ground floor is the main reception. Is it quiet? Yes. No sound of live music. But you can hear people bang the door when they come back or leave but it's not that bothering as there are not many rooms next to each room. The rooms? Are big. Which is a bonus. The TV is old. Plenty of channels in German but one-two in English and one french. If you want the English movie channel click 77. The TV is old Panasonic and not sure has an hdmi port. There is no free bottle of water or kettle. Bathroom? The water is weak. Not the best pressure. Bed? Each bed has sockets - two pin to charge your phone. Pillows are just okay. As for the people who moan about heat? Yes. There is no air conditioning but before people complain. The outside temperature was 26 degrees celcius day time and evening 15 degrees celcius. The room has heating which actually had to go on because it was a bit cold. Windows open and are safe. You can't hear anything outside if the windows are closed. Oh you can see I am typing as I think. There is a gym on the top floor with a sauna. Standard weights, running machines. Pool table in the bar. Cocktail, beer etc. morning food too but think food closes around the 9pm mark (kitchen closes). WiFi is very good and free. Hairdryer available too. So what's around? Food wise not much. 5-10 min vicinity there are restaurants but they close at 9pm. Takeaway is available but expect to walk 15-20 min. Expect to walk 35 minutes to reach the golden arches. Oh not to forget, there is an amazing food market parallel to the road which is open in the day to afternoon. As for supermarkets? They close early but it's about 20 minutes walk. Overall, it's a nice hotel.

Staff friendly, bar area nice and comfortable. The room was ok, surprised there was no safe or fridge and really annoying that there was no mirror , impossible to do my hair. Also , although breakfast was good, particularly the cake, as a vegetarian , we also like hot breakfast! The addition of veg sausage, hash browns would be very welcome and in this day and age, expected. Overall quite a good stay but room for improvement.

Stayed four nights at the Penta Hotel. Very welcoming check in, effective, efficient and friendly. Room was spacious and clean. A good sized bathroom with a really good shower. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Self service and straightforward. Nice bar area with plenty of seating. Good choice of beverages, excellent customer service and friendly staff. Good location, twenty minutes walk from Karl Platz. Main sites within walking distance. Public transportation nearby if not wanting to walk. Plenty of eating and drinking establishments close by. Overall, extremely happy with the Penta Hotel and the location.

We visited Pentahotel Wien from 19th to 23rd February and have to say there were some good things bout this hotel and things that need improvement. I travelled with my wife and another couple, and we have done a lot of city breaks, staying in 4 star hotels. The hotel has a strange theme of an mix of old and new, and styled to be semi industrial with partially knocked down (fake) brick walls and exposed ceiling ducting and pipework. Upon arrival the reception woman was pleasant enough but it is only a small desk and hotel uniforms consist of different coloured polo shirts and seemingly anything else tgey wanted to wear including jeans. Not your usual expectation of reception staff. We were in room 507 on the top floor. There are two lifts that take you up to the rooms. Corridors are weirdly decorated in a dark brown with random things on the walls, gold framed mirrors and pictures of dogs. The room had multi coloured decor but everything was of good quality. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Pillows were small and very soft, and even with two each we had to ask for another. We only had a small window with a blind as we were partially in the roof space. Room was very hot and the air conditioning didn't work. Even on the lowest setting it pumped out heat. Window only opened slightly, so we had that open day and night which made the room noisy from traffic noise. Considering we were there in February, I dread to think what it would be like in summer. Hotel details say a fan is available, so maybe that's because the air con doesn't work. TV has no English channels, not even the usual BBC World news or CNN, so just used it for radio. There is no safe in the room, which was annoying and we had to take all our cash out with us and lock passports in our case. There are no drawers or wardrobes, just a modern rack to hang clothes and box holes to put clothes, but it was functional. Bathroom was good, with a rain shower and hand left shower fittings, hairdryer and everything you need but a little small. We were a little underwhelmed for a 4 star hotel. Before travelling we had downloaded the drinks menu and looked at some of the cocktails we hoped to try in the bar. They were mainly priced at €8.00, but on our first visit to the bar the printed menu was different, with most cocktails at €11.50 or higher. Reception said they changed a few months ago and they haven't changed it on the website yet. There was also less choice than on the online menu. The bar is big with large comfortable sofas and we had drinks there most evenings before we went out and when we returned later. The barman Nenad was a lovely friendly guy and really looked after us and made the stay much better than it would have been. He certainly knows his job well, was always smartly dressed and was also chatty and we appreciated his friendly manner. He really made our stay much more pleasant than it could have been and the management need to be aware of what an asset he is to

Hotel was ok clean enough bed was huge breakfast was lovely definitely worth upgrading to that. A certain member of staff unfortunately didn't know how to deal or speak to customers, shame as the rest of the staff were lovely. Close to bus and underground so ideal for city break

Probably one of the worst hotels I've been at in the world. Front desk help is horrible and not very helpful. Rooms are tiny old and dated. If I could I'd love my money back so I can stay at a decent hotel as this place is horrible.

Great location. Friendly staff. Breakfast was continental and nice. Decor in the bedroom is a little wild. Shower was powerful. The only mirror was opposite the door of the bathroom (which didn’t shut but wasn’t a problem for us) which was a bit awkward. Pleasant stay

I really loved staying at the Pentahotel. The bar and atmosphere of this hotel is so welcoming and trendy. Some days I would just go sit downstairs and read a book or enjoy a glass of wine to the music. The location of this hotel is great. Not too busy but easy to walk to wherever you need to go. Hotel service was good. Breakfast buffet looked lovely even though I never ate from it. I had a great time staying here. I could definitely see myself coming back.
Response from Property: Dear Ebonie. Thank you so much for this lovely Feedback. I would say, till the next glass of wine at the bar (: With best regards, Patrick FO - Team

I cannot understand these good reviews. This hotel is very poorly run. The reception desk was often empty and when it was staffed the persons knew little about anything and were very unhelpful. The lobby is noisy and the focus is on the bar, not the guests. In the evening large candles were lit in the restaurant area. No one was around. Major fire hazard. I could not leave this place fast enough. One good point- the breakfasts were good.
Response from Property: Dear Guest. We are very sorry, that you were that disappointed from your stay with us. Its actually quite hard to find good staff. But we are on a good way, why we would like to see you again very soon, to proof you that we can do better. With best regards, Patrick Resinger Guest Experience Manager

Penta is a superbly managed hotel in a very pleasant Viennese neighborhood. Whereas it is located within walking distance from the city’s historical district, it doesn’t suffer from the effects accruing from the droves of tourists that clog Kärntnerstrasse, Stephansplatz and nearby areas. The staff is awesome and the facilities are very well maintained. These and other factors indicate that Penta is a hotel whose manager knows his job.
Response from Property: Dear Lindolpho. We are speechless. Thank you for this amazing Feedback. My Team and I are very glad and thankful about this nice words, especially our General Manager. In the name of the whole Team, we wanna say THANK YOU! We hope to see you again very soon. With best regards, Patrick Resinger Guest Experience Manager
