Lantern Hill & Hollow

We stayed one night in the white sands suite which was absolutely beautiful. The most peaceful nights sleep of our entire trip around Nova Scotia. Great location right on the beach.

Excellent room with a nice view of the bay. Good location. Not much open in Cape Breton before the May long weekend, unfortunately.

A position next to the sea that definitely has the wow factor. We were in a room (not a chalet) and had a beautiful view down to the sea. A walk on the beach is just a couple of minutes away. It is a little impersonal, in that no-one greets you at check in, and no breakfast is provided, but the benefits far outweigh this. Food options are available a short drive away.

Fantastic location, right by the sea, sound of the waves, peace and quiet, superbly equipped cottages. Great cottages, modern, comfortable, with kitchen, good bathroom. Everything was wonderful. The big downside was the cleanliness in places that weren't immediately visible: when we looked under the bed, it was very dirty and rather disgusting. We cleaned it ourselves, then it was OK. The management apologized, promised improvement, and compensated us. Nevertheless: a mega great place. Highly recommended!

We really enjoyed three nights here in one of the cottages. It was well supplied and clean. The comfortable chairs on the decking were a joy to look out over the sandy bay. We enjoyed lunches at nearby Periwinkle (great decaff latte) and the best burger ever at Morrisons whilst visiting White Point just off the trail. It is also worth visiting St Pauls Island museum and lighthouse whilst up there (Free admission). Only gripe was there was no dishwasher which showed with plates and bowls having food on them when we arrived. If this is bit pricey for you look at the Keltic Quay cottages at Wycocomagh-half the price and have a dishwasher- book downstairs. Not the beach but amazing view over lake.

Lantern Hill & Hollow is a true gem. The private white sand beach is stunning — you can walk for 30 minutes in either direction. The grounds are beautifully maintained and peaceful, and our room was spotless, fresh, and very comfortable. Ideally located just minutes from the Cabot Trail, it’s the perfect base for exploring Cape Breton while enjoying a tranquil seaside retreat. We can’t recommend it highly enough. I wish we could have stayed a few more days!

The location and the setting are amazing! It's actually tight on the Cabot Trail inside Cape Breton National Park. It's hard not to just want to sit on the porch of your cabin and just watch and listen to the roiling North Atlantic Ocean. The cabins are extremely comfortable and functional.

We stayed in the main house on the hilltop in the Great Room. Friends stayed in the room next door, the Peony Rose room. It was a little odd in that when we arrived there was no one there -- we just went inside and noted that the rooms had a little sign on the door with our last name and a key left inside. I wish we had understood that that was the case because we felt strange just going inside without someone showing us our room. All that aside, our Great Room was very nice, comfortable beds, and we had a wonderful large roofed deck. There was a gas fireplace, too, but given the warm weather we didn't use it. The facility is right on the water so a stroll on the beach is easy. Also, the landscaping was beautiful -- so well designed and maintained -- it was a pleasure to just look at it all! To get fresh towels and to have our room made up we just needed to put a basket outside the door with our used towels and hang a sign on our door asking for room service. It all went well. It is a lovely place to stay on Cape Breton.

Stayed 2 nights. First night in a room in the main building, which was very nice and modern. Spotless clean and very comfortable bed. Only comment is that there was not even a chair to sit on in the room. There was a balcony but with all the bugs one cannot sit there . Next night we had one of the chalets , that is for disabled people. The chalet was nice, clean and comfortable. With great kitchen diner, and BBQ on the patio. but the shower room needs updating. The location is perfect with access to the beach. Very peaceful and romantic. Great place for families for longer holiday .
