My first solo trip to India, Varanasi edition!
After checking reviews on Google Maps, I was reassured by the owner Akash's offer to provide information via WhatsApp, so I decided to stay two nights at Trilok Residency.
The day before my arrival, Akash messaged me to ask about my check-in time. I was traveling from Agra to Varanasi by sleeper train, arriving at 3:40 AM, which meant a long wait until the standard 12 PM check-in. However, thanks to Akash's generosity, he offered a complimentary early check-in from 6:30 AM, so I headed straight to the hotel.
The room was clean and tidy, and there was hot water for the shower. The water pressure was a bit low, but perfectly acceptable.
They also provided several bottles of complimentary water, and Wi-Fi was available.
Having tissues in the room was a small but much-appreciated detail.
During my stay, Akash provided daily tourism information, and what I appreciated most was his advice on how to protect myself from scammers. There were many aggressive scammers at the Manikarnika Ghat cremation ground, but because he had forewarned me, I was able to sightsee without being tricked.
Even at check-out, he messaged me to say I could have a complimentary late check-out until my flight, which I gratefully took advantage of, leaving about two hours later.
Overall, it was a fantastic hotel. Whenever I talked to locals and told them where I was staying, they would always say, 'Oh, that's a good hotel!' It seems to be highly regarded by the locals as well.
If you're feeling anxious about your first time in India, I highly recommend Trilok Residency!!!
It will surely make for an excellent Varanasi trip! Highly recommended!!
