Great nice little hotel located in the heart of La Valleta. The room was very nice and cozy with all amenities. There was also a balcony, and the room was quite soundproof. The receptionists were super nice and helpful. Specially, the one that assisted us with our luggage. Thank you so much again for your kindness and help 😊. The terrace was unfortunately under works, however, the view is stunning with the coupole the Saint Paul’s chapel. The breakfast was in the Merkanti restaurant, which was about two minutes walk and it was really good. We highly enjoyed our stay, and would be back happily.

This small hotel is set in one of the liveliest and loveliest streets of Valletta, just a short walk from Republic Square and most of the city centre attractions. My large spacious room had a lovely little Juliette balcony looking down over the street - no wardrobe, though, which was an inconvenience. A word of warning - Old Theatre Street is full of eateries, many of them fast food joints and one hosting live music at weekends, so it attracts a younger crowd at night and can get noisy. Closing the balcony doors seems to cut out most of the noise. My first impressions weren't so good. The balcony doors were difficult to open and close and so I had to spend the first night listening to raucous music and singing. When next morning I asked the young man at reception to help me with them, he refused to come up and do so (he was not on his own and reception wasn't busy) and simply barked some confused instructions. After several unsuccessful attempts to get help from him, I got the cleaner to open them for me. That night and others I found a younger and stronger guest to close them for me again. That same first morning I tried several times to find the cafe where the receptionist told me I was to have breakfast (included in the price but not on the premises). The same unhelpful garbled nonsense. Eventually I insisted on him personally showing me the way. He made a big fuss about it and angrily strode on ahead up the hill then waited impatiently for me to catch up, tapping his foot (I'm in my seventies and have an obvious spinal condition). I complained later to the owner/manager (?) about this unpleasant young man, whose behaviour was not only unhelpful but also rude. After that, I didn't see him again during my stay. I would have that morning given this establishment a very negative review, but the prompt intervention of the manager and the subsequent courtesy which I was shown by the other hotel employees has enabled me to give the Manoel the four stars it otherwise deserves. Hoteliers should take note that good or indifferent staff can make or break the guest experience and will be reflected in their recommendations to others.

A small hotel right in the centre of Valletta, close to everything. Our room had plenty of space and was very clean. It had everything we needed for a short stay and was cleaned daily. Yes it was noisy on some mornings but it is in the centre of a city so you have to expect some early deliveries. Breakfast was in a restaurant a short walk away and had enough there to choose from. An enjoyable stay.

An adequate room for the price but super noisy. The staff leave the building before ten pm (you are given a code to get in). The tv did t work, the loo seat was in danger of collapse and despite mentioning both to the staff, neither were rectified. Breakfast is offered at another restaurant. All very disappointing

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights during our week-long trip to Malta and our general opinion of the hotel is a flat average. First of all the "boutique" needs to be dropped from their name as there is nothing boutique about this hotel. The staff were friendly enough and the location is great, right in the centre of town but there is no personal touch here - no passion and next-to-no atmosphere. The shampoo and shower gel must be gold to them as the bottles are the size of a pocket watch and they were not replaced each day so we had to ask for them a couple times. When we arrived in our room, the bathroom sink was plugged so we had to call maintenance - I hate small irritations like that! The rooftop bar/restaurant is closed so no drinks/food on the premises, in fact, breakfast is available at a restaurant three blocks away, and don't expect much from the buffet either - just the basics. Here's a tip: have a coffee that is provided in your room before heading out to breakfast because the coffee served at the restaurant is that powdered Nescafe crap that was popular back in the 1970s. They did have the means to make proper coffee but all that was at an extra cost. My advice, for the cost, there is somewhere better to stay - boutique THIS IS NOT.

Such a beautiful hotel in the centre of Valletta, situated down Old Theatre Street. Gorgeous views of The Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel outside on the balcony too. The rooms were exquisite, both the large double bed and sofa were comfortable, and I loved the marble flooring throughout the room. Reception staff were very friendly, said hello and goodbye every time we entered or left the building. Always there if we needed any help. Breakfast was located at a nearby restaurant, not even a 5 minute walk away. Enjoyed breakfast being in a separate place as it meant you were up and out ready to start your day as soon as you'd finished eating. Will definitely be coming back to this hotel in the future.

To start with the positives: the hotel is centrally located and the staff is friendly and does their best customer service, the bed is comfortable. For the rest, I felt the description of the hotel is deceiving and I was extremely disappointed with my weekend stay. I paid for a Double Deluxe room and I was placed in a Standard room. I was told the room could not be changed because the hotel was fully booked. I am not sure what makes this a boutique hotel, as there is not one thing luxurious or unique about the hotel and the rooms. The room I was given was very small and I did not feel it was over 20m2. And there is not much light coming into the room (on the 3rd floor) so the lights were even necessary during the day. I received multiple emails before my stay asking what time I would arrive. And when I arrived at the advertised check-in time the room still was not ready. The room was so dusty, literally dust balls everywhere even the curtains. Paint was chipping away from the walls so that also contributed to the dust. The robe was frayed which I found unprofessional. Every single noise inside the hotel and outside the hotel can be heard in the room. So, the soundproofing advertised does not exist. Also my key did not work correctly and there was no one at the front desk when I returned to change the key. This meant the electricity in the room would automatically shutoff if the key budged from the exact position in the wall access. The room key and the light fixture were fixed the next day. Of course there was a cleaning the next day but there still dust balls especially on the curtains and behind.

Major health and safety violations - one night, a large piece of the wall crashed where I'd been sitting minutes ago. Spent the entire night in fear, nobody around to help. Several power outages, including one which continued all night and into late morning - hotel had no emergency options, nothing, no communication from anyone, no lifts, no light or heat reserves whatsoever. Had to share one outlet between coffee machine, kettle and fridge because some of the outlets would blow the room's power. First night, room looked good UNTIL I saw the toilet seat dirty with literal human faeces. Had to clean it myself. Shower water went completely cold after 5 minutes. Extremely dark, even when I changed room - and was charged extra for a deluxe when actually it was worse, smaller and less facilities! For the included breakfast, you have to walk 5 mins into town (in the pelting rain for me) to a restaurant, variety is poor too - there's no mention of this in the listing.

I was between a couple of hotels in valetta. One I had decided against and it was cheaper, not by much however over 5 nights I chose the De Vilhena Boutique Hotel. Imagine much to my surprise the name had changed The Manoel Boutique Hotel. I have a preference for a tub which is why I didn’t originally book it, I also wanted an airport transfer which the hotel arranged the first one and I was given a taxi ride and loose directions it is around the corner. Check in is important and I believe the horrendous reception colored my experience. The desk clerk was beyond rude, clearly hated his job, wore so much cologne I had to shower after being around him and I had to open the window after he was in the room. I am not sensitive to smell. Breakfast was good again not in the hotel a short walk into another building. Very simple directions could have made this stay so much better. Most of the time front desk was not manned when it was the girls that were there were lovely, and helpful. I did communicate on the first day how rude the gentleman was and they had heard it before. The location was great, but customer service poor when he was there. Toiletries first day, not replenished throughout stay, also the television was not working. No televisions were working in the whole property also roof deck was closed. Bed was great, location was great, breakfast buffet definitely not traditional but was interesting and filling.
