"I booked a last minute night away with the children: afternoon tea followed by an overnight. The afternoon tea was delicious and I was really well catered for as a vegan diner. The Grand Hall was a beautiful setting for afternoon tea. The children also loved their food - the sandwiches were much simpler for the children and they got seconds based on how delicious they were. Our room was large and had a sofa bed and a cot bed. We enjoyed playing in the grounds including the play area, outdoor chess, boules, the scavenger hunt and the fitness trail. My son also loved playing football in the garden - he was excited that there were goals set up. We had dinner in The Fox Bar and had drinks and played cards in the Grand Hall afterwards. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. We were really excited to find newts in the pond. They would love to stay again. I would love to come for an overnight with my partner to experience it differently without the children."

"Lovely little hotel very close to Stanstead Airport. It was being refurbished unfortunatley, so had some issues with wifi, but I was upgraded to a double room immediartely. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was missing a small fridge and a toilet brush, which should be stadard in a four star establishment."

Pros: • Friendly, helpful staff on check-in • Really reasonable price for the area • Great location - short drive to Jet Parks and easy access to the airport • Clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed with extra pillows available • Great Dunmow is just over a mile walk away with plenty of pubs/restaurants No complaints. Does exactly what you need for an airport stopover without the airport hotel prices."

"A very friendly privately run hotel. I've stayed here on several occasions over the past few years and the service has always been excellent. The staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The older building is listed and has somewhat crroked floors in a number of rooms. It's a nice quiet spot if, like me, you value a good nights sleep. The hotel doesn't do evening meals but there are two good pub / restaurants within a few minutes walk. If you want something other than bland chain hotels then this hotel is for you. Will return nextg time I'm in the area."
