HOTEL MYSTAYS Maihama

This hotel is quite bad. It seems cheap on the surface, but it's really not, with a lot of hidden charges. For instance, there's no bottled water in the room. It seems like most hotels in Tokyo don't provide bottled water, but other hotels usually have a water dispenser, which this one doesn't. Buying water here is much more expensive. They even charge for umbrellas! There was no room cleaning for our two-night stay. They claim it's an 'economy' hotel, but that wasn't stated on the booking. The soundproofing is terrible; being street-facing, the outside noise is clearly audible, making it hard to sleep. The room is tiny, especially the bathroom, where the bathtub, toilet, and sink are crammed together, making it difficult to even turn around. I booked for two nights, and after experiencing one night, I wanted to check out, but they wouldn't allow it.

This was the most spacious hotel I stayed in Japan, though the price wasn't cheap and the room itself was still quite compact. However, it offered good value for money, especially since hotels around amusement parks tend to be very expensive. Luckily, the subway access was super convenient. The sky was so blue, and the ingredients at the conveyor belt sushi place were incredibly fresh. We also had ramen and takoyaki… Generally, you get what you pay for. The octopus in the takoyaki was really chewy and delicious. My kids loved it; they said it had a lot of filling.
