Araliya Beach Resort & Spa Unawatuna- Where You Meet the Sea All Year
4.4/566 Reviews
As a part of my journey I did select this hotel as 05star beach resort but from the beginning Check-In delayed for 02hrs. No communication to the guest. They gave room from 3rd floore with the tree view not what they have published as sea view which was disappointing no sea view at all. Outside the balcony huge noise were there from machine and noisy. Rooms curtains were out of date and dirty. When I informed they didn't bother at all which is utterly disappointed. No details were give from the reception. Then I placed ordered through room service which took one and half hours to deliver the cold food. It's shame that having such incredible hotel with a poor service. It seems Management is incapable of delivering standard 05star service for the guest. Throughout the stay buffet was consistently the same lack of variety. I think Management should take seriously. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

**Hotel Review** Staying at this hotel was an absolute delight, primarily because the views alone are worth every penny. Waking up to breathtaking scenery each morning was a highlight of our trip. While it's true that the hotel could use a bit of TLC in some areas, the overall experience more than makes up for it. The staff, particularly Kumara, Rasika, Thilina, and Sehan, are some of the best I've encountered. They are incredibly caring and always ready to attend to our needs, making us feel truly welcomed and valued. Breakfast here is excellent, with a variety of options to suit all tastes. The restaurant menu is impressive, thanks to Chef Sujith and Yasanka, who do an outstanding job. Don't miss out on the creamy hot sauce—it was so good, we couldn't get enough of it! Overall, this hotel offers a memorable stay with stunning views, top-notch service, and fantastic dining. Highly recommended!
Villa Thawthisa the Boutique Hotel Unawatuna

The view is great and breathtaking during sunset. They keep the hotel premises and garden clean. But when entering to the hotel, we feel like its an isolated/neglected place. Path is broken and both sides covered with ugly trees and bushes. No one to look at until we park and go to the reception. People park the vehicles wherever they want blocking other vehicles (we had to wait nearly half an hour to move our vehicle because someone was blocking it).We got a deluxe room with pool access. The bathroom design is so stupid and uncomfortable design. Rooms are not nice as the photos they have posted in web. Room amenities are ok but furniture and design of the room looks cheap. There is a very small staff. They looked like some random people found for day pay. Restaurant has no proper AC. We were sweating while having meals. There was only one guy to serve us who is not even wearing a mask. Special thank should go to the Chef. He had arranged very tasty food for the limited budget(we heard how they discuss the meal budget and all. They were too noisy and disturbing). Meal quantity is really small. Took longer time to serve. However next day breakfast was a buffet which was better. Rooftop is flooded when raining. Such a beautiful view is wasted. Elevator is out of service and we have to climb 4 floor to the restaurant. (this was reported in other reviews posted long ago). Such a beautiful location is wasted due to mismanagement.
Sergeant House Boutique Villa & Private Beach

There’s so much to swoon over at this curious boutique villa that’s perfectly situated from right across the beach at Unawatuna. The staggering façade comes courtesy of its historic colonial architecture that traces all the way back to the 1800s; and its interiors characterized by a disarming confluence of rattan accents, antique decor, and traditional furniture that sets the tone of a perfect coastal vibe. Lest you think it’s all face and no substance, you’ll be chuffed to learn that the folks at Sergeants’ House also offers exemplary service by any standards, and were very warm, accommodating and easy going. There was also something comfortingly communal about the fact that the room doors don’t lock (the family staying right across me literally left the doors wide open the entire day); and there was not a second throughout my stay that I got worried or paranoid that my things would get stolen, by staff or the other occupants. And that says ALOT because I am generally a very distrusting person – especially when I am travelling. Something about the place works on a very unspoken level of intrinsic trust, and you get cloaked with the same kind understanding the instant you walk through its tall heavy gates, like magic.
Thaproban Pavilion Waves

The hotel is facing the sea view, the first one is the view from the hotel, the view is good, the swimming pool is facing the sea, but there is no beach, the room is large, the big is very empty! Overall, it is good, that is, the road at the entrance of the hotel is narrow, there are many cars, and it takes a long time to drive every time you go out.

A super hotel with good facilities and a good location. The buffet breakfast is comparable to the standard of lunch and dinner. The hotel’s open-air saltwater swimming pool is clean and buoyant. It faces the sea and makes waves. It’s amazing. The family suite we stayed in, open the skylight, the sun shines in, it is too comfortable.
