Courtyard Tupelo

I am deeply disappointed in this Courtyard on ALL levels. As an elite Marriott member, this hotel does not follow Marriott standards, and does not deserve to be affiliated with Marriott. This hotel stands at #1 for worst guest experience ever in my 30 years of corporate travel. If you can avoid The Courtyard by Marriott in Tupelo, MS. then do so at all costs. There are other Marriott properties nearby, but other cities in MS would be a better choice. This hotel is horribly mismanaged. From the ownership group, to the hotel management, and the hotel's extremely hostile and confrontational staff. Neither the management, and or the staff, holds itself accountable in wrongfully blaming guests for apparent hotel issues. The average guest would assume that "Hotel Staff would be empowered to resolve issues", but this hotel intentionally refuses to resolve the problems, and further they blatantly go out of their way to infuriate guests, inflaming tensions, and ultimately chasing guests away. THE LAST STRAW: I called the ownership group. The regional VP refused to cooperate with me, and or Marriott for that matter. The regional VP literally phone-bombed me, and stalked me on social media before I had blocked him. I filed a complaint with Marriott Guest Services, and the Elite Service manager was so disgusted with this hotel's treatment of me that she "resolved the issue immediately", awarding me 25K points, giving me stay credit, and also the points I earned through my paid stay.

We stayed a Friday night here. The hotel is easy accessed from the highway and is surrounded by restaurants and stores, etc. The hotel is well maintained and the staff is exceptional! The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. The Bistro is a nice touch. The only drawback was the outside noise caused by tragic and near by trains. You could clearly hear sirens, trains and commotion from the near by restaurants. This clearly is not the hotels fault and it might be much quieter during the week.

Hotel: Very nice Courtyard in a good location. A lot of food choices in walking distance or a very short drive. The Lobby is clean and kept up. Check in was smooth and the front desk lady (Mia I think was her name) was amazing. Room: The room was decent size, bright, good wifi & clean. Sleep: Bed was comfortable, room was dark at night and maintained temperature. -flyou

The only reason I give a 4 is because of the horrible bistro staff and food. The hotel is clean and staff was pleasant. However today 08/29 T 8 am a young African American woman was unfriendly, kept looking at her phone while she took my order and acted as if I was bothering her. I ordered a yogurt which when I got it. It had a granola bar barely broken up and stale and the yogurt was really sour. I was afraid to eat it while I was driving. I recommend the hotel but don’t eat at the bistro.

As someone who travels 300+ days a year and who stays in Marriott properties primarily, I have certain expectations about the brand. This property fell short in several areas; I will not stay here again. -Location is convenient for Tupelo. -The room was comfortable, clean and the WiFi was good. -COVID-era practices of not offering daily room refresh still in place. -The shower was horrible. They installed the soap dispensers widthwise versus lengthwise which makes the narrow shower more narrow. The water pressure in the shower was horrible and the shower head, with its unchangeable head and 8 flows of water was not a good shower experience. -The food credit for guests with status was not communicated, not convenient and just clumsy all together. 2 days in a row there was an issue just trying to use the $10 voucher. Employees would rather tell you what they cannot do versus what they can do. -One employee, Nicholas, was excellent and provided great guest-centric service. Based on my experience, I will not stay here again, which is too bad as I travel to Tupelo 4-6 times a year on business.

Hotel is clean and had no issues during the stay. Area behind the hotel isn't the greatest, but town is not too far away if you have a car. Starbucks counter stops selling food at 10am. Firepit area is nice, didn't use the pool.
