I am a 23 year old boy and I stayed at the Macondo Hotel for my spring break with 9 other friends. We were divided into two different apartments. So, the hotel itself is fantastic, clean and we also had an apartment with a jacuzzi and terrace. The staff is kind and attentive, especially the young girl: we had some problems with towels and safes but they always helped us promptly. I remove two stars for two reasons: the first and the area. It is not easy to find, not even for the taxi on the way there and it is literally next to some workers' slums. I advise against returning home from the beach or the clubs in the evening because you can see everything just outside the hotel. We had scooters so we didn't have this problem but in any case the road is not very nice to travel, especially in the dark. In any case there is security at the entrance barrier to the hotel. The second reason is the services offered. They say they have many contacts for packages and offers with tours and excursions. The package to go to Chichen Itza is very affordable ($110) and includes the archaeological site, transport and 3 wonderful Cenotes. I don't recommend the other packages (beach club and scooters). Especially with the scooters we had problems when we brought them back at the end of the holiday and they added 1000 pesos for a missing piece of plastic on top of the battery which we had never touched and we suspect they removed it themselves to ask us for money. Macondo is beautiful but avoid scooters
