DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Atlanta Northlake

We were only at this hotel 1 day and had multiple issues with a male member of housekeeping. At 9:00 am the hallway was completely blocked by housekeeping carts. Next the same staff member was in the hallway speaking loudly and playing music. The worst encounter with the same staff member was when he our door and proceeded to barge into our room at 12:07 PM. I had arranged a late checkout with the front desk staff, there was a do not disturb sign on our door and my wife and I were trying to take a nap before a long drive home. I would have given the hotel a 2.5 star rating if that was an option. The room was nice, it was clean and the front desk staff were professional. Another issue was two times in our short stay there was someone smoking week by the front door. Not a great place to bring kids.
Hampton Inn Atlanta/Stone Mountain

Upon arrival we discovered per a sign at the front desk the pool was closed for repairs. It being summer in GA and having 3 kids to entertain, we were dissappointed we couldn't take a refreshing swim to cool off during our downtime. The front desk did call another Hampton Inn 10 minutes down the road to make arrangements for us to use their pool. We never made it there due to bad weather, etc. Also our room smelled musty, there were areas where the carpet was falling apart (a reoccuring them throughout the hotel) and our room door kept sticking. You really had to give it a good push or pull to get it to open. Carpets and floors visibly dirty. On a good note, the beds were comfortable and the a/c worked well. We also liked (and took advantage of) the full sized refrigerator in our room. There's a Publix across the street.

Courtyard Atlanta Northlake
3.6/5100 Reviews
As a loyal Marriott customer I was terribly disappointed in the Courtyard by Marriott Atlanta Northlake. When I pulled up I noticed there was construction and remodeling taking place, that's great. I checked in, the young lady at the desk was nice, provided me with a bottle of water and efficient service. I got to my room and did the ”room sweep” so to speak. The room was rundown but no big deal. When I checked the patio door, I noticed it did not lock and the toilet didn't flush. I asked for a new room and was given one. That one wreaked of stale cigarette smoke, the refrigerator had seen better days, and the heater was loud. Looking around the hotel, the hallways are battered, there was a door missing it's door handle/lock like someone broke in and the overall appearance was rundown. Additionally, no housekeeping services were done and I stayed two nights. Sorry everyone COVID is over, you can return to cleaning the rooms daily. The only reason I'm giving this two stars is the front-desk person at check-in and the nice lady at the cafe who I chatted with when getting coffee. If you're a Marriott loyalist and in the ATL, look elsewhere.
Rodeway Inn Stone Mountain

This place deserves -10 stars! It is now called Rodeway Inn. It should be called Red Light Rooms. I barely got a wink of sleep all night thanks to the moaning and headboard banging until after 4 am, and the load yelling and door slamming a few rooms down the hall. I asked for a downstairs nonmoking room but the front desk clerk/owner denied having that request. She offered me a smoking room downstairs if I didn't want to do the stairs. That room reeked so badly that this senior lady with bad knees chose to drag my heavy suitcase up the stairs. Oh, and the stair tread edgers were falling apart and repaired with duct tape, as was the nearly empty juice machine! The ceiling panels right inside the door are just hanging. One of the lamps was inoperable. There was a dead bug on the floor by the headboard. The only good thing about this place is the beds and bathroom seemed clean and the water pressure is good. I wouldn't stay here again if they paid me to. It's one of the top 3 worst hotels I've ever stayed in. Don't be lured by the low room price. You want to stay far, far away from this place unless you want to join the line of johns at the next room.
