Homestay Bongbang

BongBang was awesome, a must stay when competing the Ha Giang Loop. Great food and vibe with the people who work there, would recommend. We stayed with a larger group dorm style but got a view of the private rooms which would be a good option for couples travelling the loop. They let you park your motorbike within the wall of the property so no stress about leaving it on the street.

This is NOT a homestay. It’s a hostel with a ton of dorms and no privacy with extremely loud and drunk guests. We booked a private room but for some reason they booked us for two rooms, one private and one shared. It was their mistake and then they refused to give us the private room even though it was also under our reservation. No one ended up using the private room, so we were basically just downgraded after their mistake of booking us twice. The guests are extremely loud and rude and our shared room was not a good experience. Guests came back drunk at 1am, turned all the lights on, and wouldn’t stop talking in LOUD voices from 1am - 6am. A few pros: the dinner was good and the hot showers were nice. The bed was comfy too. If you’re looking to party, this is the place for you. If you want any resemblance of a good night’s sleep, would NOT recommend this place.

This is a small hotel with a few single rooms and dorm rooms situated around a little pond, opposite a deck where you can eat and drink. The bright spot of this place was the food, which for dinner was really, really good. Breakfast was nothing special, but dinner was great. A nice, hearty meal with plenty of Vietnamese food. The staff were a little bit too familiar, but I think that's typical at Ha Giang hotels in my experience. A great place to easily meet other travelers as well. I would stay here again.
