Noren Yado Meigetsu

It felt like a historic ryokan. The meals were refined and outstanding. My parents really loved it, and we would definitely visit again.

Just WOW, so you want a real Japanese ryokan experience? That includes a big (really big) Japanese breakfast, which was really delicious, too big to mention everything. The tatami room was really beautiful and everything you need. And don't forget the Japanese bath (ofuro, that is shared) which was really relaxing. The owner is really nice, too nice and she really tries the help you anyway she can. I have heard that they offer a really nice diner also but that's not included in the price. So if you want to enjoy Tsuwano a little bit more, in a really Japanese way, this is the place to stay.

This is an old, comfortable inn with excellent food. We were greeted warmly, and shown to a large tatami room with direct access to a small garden. Furnishings are worn, but clean and comfortable. The sink, with its separate hot and cold faucets is the first thing you see upon entering the room. The WC is small, and there is a separate shower/cedar tub room. The futons were quite thin, but there were extras in the closet which we used on the second night. The highlight for us were the wonderful kaiseki meals, both dinner and breakfast. Everything was wonderfully prepared and presented. Altogether the portions were more than ample, and it was fun to dress in fukata and to try new-to-us foods. If you are looking for an authentic country inn, Meigetsu might be a good choice.

A family run inn with excellent cuisine. The facility has a Showa period taste but most importantly you can sense love for the details and dedication for the quality of food. Tsuwano is a very charming place surrounded with fantastic nature.
