Hotel location is suitable for driving, parked outside the door. The hotel is small, but the facilities are complete, breakfast and dinner are also very rich. The staff is very warm and courteous and kind to the children. There are many small animal origami for the children ☺️

The hotel's own underground parking lot is ready. If it's full, you can park for free in the external parking lot. It's connected to the underground parking lot and elevator. The hall is on the second floor. Guests can leave their shoes separately, and the hot spring is on the third floor. Both men and women's baths are separated if they have open-air baths. We also have a sauna. The lobby sells various souvenirs and you can also buy sake. Meals are prepared on the second floor and are all Japanese in the evening and morning. Buffet is not provided. If you visit on a snowy day in winter, you can enjoy the hot springs in the open-air bath.

Good points for families with babies There were bath chairs, small chairs for children, and crib in the large communal bath. Bouncers, high chairs and tableware were prepared at the restaurant. I stayed with an infant, so I made a family plan in a room with an open-air bath. However, I was able to take my child to the large communal bath, so it was not a hot spring, it was small, and I didn't have to dare to have a room bath. The hot springs were normal, neither good nor bad, but the view of the observation bath was good, and there were hot water and bathtubs of color 々 type, so I was excited and enjoyed it very much. The air-conditioning in the private room passed through for dinner was too strong to wait for the staff at the serving, so it was cold and painful, so I turned it off without permission. The food was delicious. Breakfast was not a buffet, probably because there were few guests, but the staff was very considerate and I was satisfied with the quality.

Hotel is conveniently located just beside Yuzawa Kogen Ropeway. The Japanese style room feels a little dated but is clean and spacious , good for 6 persons. Futon was great but pillows a little too hard for my liking. Hotel has a small but nice onsen with outdoor bath. Service staff was great throughout my stay. There is a free shuttle service between hotel and the JR station. Call hotel to dispatch shuttle when reach JR station.

To put it simply, it is a traditional Japanese hotel renovated, and the proprietress speaks English very well. The room only has a toilet and no personal bathroom. There is a public bathhouse and hot spring. It is advertised as no dilution and no reheating cycle. I stayed in a single Western-style room, which was very clean. However, don't turn on the exhaust fan in the toilet when it's very cold. It will suck in the cold air from the corridor, making it useless to turn on the heater. There is National Highway 17 nearby, but it is in a residential area, so it was not noisy and slow. It's easy to get to the bus stop in front of the station, so I think it's a very good place if you come by ski snowboarding. It's small, but there is a large communal bath that can accommodate about ３〜４ people. It is said that you can lock it from inside and use it. So it was very comfortable to enter slowly in a chartered state. When you leave, turn off the lights and open the door completely. There is no reservation in particular, so if it is not locked, it feels like you can enter. There is also a board storage like a drying room, so it is useful for the snow season. There are places to hang hangers, so you can dry your clothes. When I told him about the care of the board, he was willing to lend me an extension cord. It was good that I was able to wax in the drying room. The room is ２ for names, so it is wide 々. The desk is also large enough to work. When you return late, you should bring the key. You may have it when you return early. Once I left it at the front desk, I came back early in the afternoon, but sometimes I didn't come out at all even if I pressed the call. I tried to call, but I still didn't answer ... I waited for about 10 minutes and finally got off by elevator, so I may not be at the front desk. I stayed for a few days, so I clean it every day. My stay at the Takahan Ryokan was wonderful thanks to the welcoming staff, classic room layout and view, and history of the property. I arrived at Gala Yuzawa Station a little before the official check-in time (3:00 pm) but was still picked up within five minutes after calling. The staff member on the phone spoke good English, as did the two staff members - both non-Japanese - who welcomed me at the hotel. Everyone was patient and went out of their way to help me and answer questions. One staff member led me up to my room on the fifth floor of the hotel, showing me the entrance to the baths from the hot spring presumably under the property and the room Kawabata Yasunari wrote ”Snow Country” in, both on the first floor, along the way. I was really happy with the room, which was quite large by Japanese standards and had a great view. As another reviewer noted, the amenities in the room are dated, but I thought that just added to the charm. As a fan of Kawabata Yasunari, I really enjoyed the history of the place and the chance to look out on the town from the same vantage point he described in his novel. The comfortable seating - with tea set - on the room's balcony/veranda made this especially enjoyable to do. Overall, my stay at the Takahan was one of the most memorable and enjoyable I've had. Highly recommended.
