This was probably my first and last capsule hotel experience. I had heard good things about capsule hotels in Japan in the past and saw good reviews online about this 9h hotel, but this was totally not what I expected.
First of all, it’s located in an area with bars around, which, as a female solo traveler, made me feel unsafe walking back to the hotel at night.
My biggest issue with the hotel was the air ventilation in the pod. I couldn’t sleep at all because I felt suffocated and unable to breathe properly inside. I had to keep the privacy blind open all night just to get some minimal airflow. There was also a security camera that was meant to track your sleep, but it kept making a weird vibrating noise every minute. I had to unplug the cable behind it to turn it off.
There is also 0 soundproofing. There are about twenty pods in the room, and I could hear all the movements. One girl was coughing throughout the night, which made it even worse.
On top of that, there is only one lift serving all 10 floors in the building, and stairs are not allowed. So you have to wait a long time during peak time. The luggage storage itself is okay, but the corridor between the storage shelves is very tight. If you have a big suitcase and need to open it to organize your things, it’s going to be difficult.
One of the staff members who helped with my luggage storing before check in was also rude for no reason. While I was just trying to understand the situation, she yelled at me to get out of the hotel and said I couldn’t stay there, even though I had literally just received my baggage tag a few seconds earlier.
If you’re looking for a good night’s sleep, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Pay a bit more and go somewhere else.
