Onsen Ryokan Yuen Shinjuku

Love the Onsen my first time trying it ,location was close to everything 7/11 right across the street . The staff was great beautiful view of the city from the room

I chose this hotel because of its location (10-15 min walk from nearest train station) and the onsen. There is a 7-11 conveniently located right across the hotel which is perfect for a quick breakfast / supper. The hotel’s onsen operates from 6AM-10AM and 3PM-2AM. It was so nice to take a dip in the warm onsen and enjoy the Tokyo skyline after a full day of walking. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a hotel in Shinjuku area that offers some peace amidst the hustle and bustle!

I’d wanted to stay at this hotel for a long time and loved the idea of a traditional-style hotel right in the heart of Tokyo. The staff were very friendly, and I was happy to get a room on a higher floor as I had requested. The room itself was very small and felt a bit outdated. For this price range, I expected a little more. However, the window — definitely the highlight of the room — offered an incredible view of the city. The onsen was quite small, but wow. Being able to relax in an outdoor bath right in the center of Tokyo while looking out at the city was an amazing experience. The breakfast was also very good.

Location is good, lobby concept is very nice. Just room are smaller than what we expect.

Venue was nice, location wise is kind of outskirt of shinjuku, but acceptable, due to away from noisiness! However, the service was not to enjoyable, at times, i felt disrespected but the services.

The ambience is perfect. Room is a little small however the layout, concept and vibe is lovely. Staff were exceptionally approachable, warm coming and helpful. Onsen was clean and simple, nothing too special. However, I was disappointed on the last day on my check out, when I called the reception to inform that I will be a little late to check out. However, the staff informed me that I can have the extension until 1130am for free of charge. Only then I received another call 15-20 minutes later to inform that I need to check out immediately (it was already ~1120am) if not fees will be incurred at 1000yen an hour. I was appalled by this new information and had to rush immediately which made me panic and reach reception a few minutes later at 1134am. Unfortunately, I was charged 1000yen because I was “4 minutes” late, which based on the earlier information on the phone call that I would be charged 1000yen per hour extension. What disgusts me the most was I was charged for being 4 minutes late with no warning given or chance to explain myself, and the way the older gentlemen (I assume the manager) asked me for the 1000yen was sarcastically rude. Kudos to the other staff who was so kind to me afterwards. I was super amazed and delighted with my stay with Onsen Ryokan Yuen, however that incident during check out made me question my thoughts with this hotel again. I may have thoughts on returning back to this hotel again for my future trips in Tokyo.
