Would highly recommend staying at this property. About a 7 minute drive out of Triberg on country road- its close and convenient to Triberg. Rooms large and very clean, beds comfortable. We ate both dinner and breakfast here- food and service was great! There is an indoor pool buts its not heated; also have a sauna which is 'au naturalle'. One of the best places we stayed at during our 2 week trip.

Just a lovely out of the way spot with beautiful grounds and a great pool. Lots of young families were there with well behaved kiddos, and the food was excellent.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the middle of the Schwarzwald. It is nearby Triberg, and many of the hiking routes are within 30 minutes drive. Castles Hohenzollern and Lichtenstein are roughly 1 hour to 1,5 hours away. The hotel has plenty of parking space. We ate every date at the hotel. The staff is pleasant, and the dining options are great for both diner and breakfast. The hotel also facilities such as a pool, but we did not make use of that as we spent our time sightseeing the surrounding area. The rooms are not very spacious for the price category, but they are fine and offer nice facilities. My room for instance had a door right outside to a large garden outside, with also a table and chairs. The room's curtains did not cover the window, but the room did have window screens that could cover the windows for privacy (and would also keep out the light). My father's room on the other side of the building had a balcony, but was at the roadside where you could hear traffic. Due to the 30 km speed limit this should not be much of an issue though. I did not experience annoying noises in the room, but you can sometimes vaguely hear other people in other rooms. All in all I really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and can recommend it to others.

It's a surprising great place right in the middle of Black Forest. I cannot help to notice the accolades hung on the wall of the reception and I immediately knew I am in the right place. I arrived at 3pm in the afternoon and there was a blip as the room was not ready immediately and was told to wait. The service recovery was excellent, we were quickly ushered to the restaurant for a refreshment. We spent loads of time in the room as it was spacious and clean, air-condition was great and the TV is Sony! We didn't take note of the time and sooner that we thought, it was dinner time and we booked a half-board for the first night. We headed to the restaurant and the place was beautifully decorated in a nice cosy, homely setting. We took loads of pictures of the beautiful place. We had a 4 course dinner starting with grilled goat cheese with salad, followed by a celery and pear soup. The mains were mackerel and beef cheek. The mackerel was oozing juice out, never had such a fresh mackerel. Beef cheek was great too with mashed potatoes by the side. After our dinner, we did some research and realised that the restaurant is very popular and indeed a top-rated place. Definitely a must try when one is in the area.

Stayed here as we couldn't find other hotels in Triberg. Room at this hotel was small but there is a nice patio outside the room with table and deck chairs which opens up to a lovely open green space behind the hotel, there are bath robes, extra towels for the spa, kettle but not cups or coffee/tea, bathroom was nice with a heated towel rack but only a 2-in-1 body/hair shampoo was provided. The heating in the room cannot be controlled. Telephone in room did not work either. We were glad that we stayed only 1 night here. Breakfast was included which was ok. Had dinner at the restaurant, the food was nice but expensive. Staff was not very friendly on the whole. No help was extended by a particular staff who just stood there and watched us struggled to carry our bags up the flight of stairs. No one asked if we had a good stay at checkout. We were glad that we stayed only one night.

We made a late decision to spend a night in the Black Forest and Zum Ochsen seemed like a good choice. Despite checking in after dinner and leaving after breakfast, we enjoyed our quick stop. We enjoyed a swim in their very nice indoor pool and relaxed a bit in the saunas. Breakfast was overwhelming with lots of choices. In general, our brief impression was that we got more than we paid for in a very nice hotel.

Large parts of the hotel appear to have been relatively recently modernized - the Twin Room with Terrace was furnished with straightforward modern wooden furniture. The small bathroom is also modernly designed. There are several small seating areas in the hallways, which look tastefully cozy with small details. From the spa area, only the small indoor pool was used - this could be more attractive - but sufficient for a little relaxation. The two menus in the restaurant were delicious. Upon request, there was a fine wine accompaniment. The breakfast the next morning was very varied and tasty - there were regional open goods - hardly any food packaged in portions. From checking in to visiting the restaurant and checking out after breakfast, we met friendly, attentive people who made the stay a lovely short trip.
