Hotel Luxembourg

Thessaloniki|0.1km from NU MODERN GREEK
The location of the hotel is very good and close to amenities. Staff were friendly and polite. However, the hygiene was not up to our standards. We had a petrifying experience. Disgusting cockroaches were coming our of the tab while we were having shower! We reported it to the receptionist who apologised. They said that they do pest control regularly. We paid the full price and asked the receptionist to speak to the manager and get back to us on the following morning before our departure. We saw the same receptionist on the following morning but she was hiding behind the front desk. Not her fault but really disappointing that the manager did not come to apologise. They did not even consider to offer a 10% discount out of courtesy as hotels in the UK would normally do. Beds were ok for 1 or 2 sleeps but the mattresses were not comfortable. We all had back issues by the day we left. Breakfast was poor - minimum of choice, fruit compost out of a tin etc. The room was not as described to us on the phone. We thought we had booked a suite with windows on first floor. In reality we booked a suite at a mezzanine level. We had to bend to open the windows and to avoid banging our heads on the wall. The room was not welcoming and airy as we were told. There was a lot of noise coming from the street with the windows open... Overall, although the hotel was close to amenities, our experience was poor. We didn't feel valid as customers. If travellers go for that hotel, first make sure that they don't book 'first' floor rooms and they bring pest killer products in their suitcase!

What a brilliant hotel!! Originally built as the city's Post Office in the mid 19th century, it still retains it's charm with some original features and big high ceilings. It's situation right in the heart of the vibrant Ladadika area is perfect. One might have thought that noise at night would be disturbing, but we never heard a thing due to the excellent double glazing. The food was to a very high standard and the staff were friendly and helpul. The room wqs beautiful and tastefully equipped. I would definitely stay there again.

13th October-16th October 2022 Room Number 415 The hotel is central and the staff helpful. Breakfast was nice and the location central. However this was overshadowed by the very poor state of the ”superior room ” we had requested and paid for. Given room 415 It was in a very very poor state of repair, The shower mixer tap was broken as was the tiling behind it. The Shower area was very badly painted as was the whole room with paint drips everywhere. The had basin had become detached from its marble work surface and was in an awful condition. It also had some very sharp edges on the underneath presumably for whatever fixing agent had been used to secure it The bedroom althclean again was let down by its overall poor state of repair and decoration. The wardrobes looked like a 2year old had painted them. The skirting boards where very badly scuff with paint removed in part. The decor was no existent. Had we not been with company who had personally recommended this hotel I would have made more of an issue at the the time, however to save them the embarrassment and anguish I chose not too. Room number 415

Not all five star hotels are created equal. This truth was evident from the moment I stepped into the hotel. Car parking - that will be 20 euro a night. Alternatives? No idea (turned out that you can park three blocks away for less than 10 euro a night depending on departure time next day). Room upgrade - impossible - I get that this isn't always possible but the delivery by staff is all important. The room - ok - nothing to write home about (shower leaked from the top - when I mentioned as I left no one seemed to care - which just about summed up my stay). The view - from the back side of the hotel - not worth the money. The breakfast - passible. All in all would I go back? Honestly no - I'd definitely look elsewhere.

the service was okay. the people working in the hotel very kind and helpful . But , the hotel needs restoration . looks quite old, and dark. some things are broken etc . i stayed in this hotel also 2013 ... now it lookes much older and not so well maintained . Also the music in the breakfast room was too loud and not agreable stile for starting the day i would prefer something calmer . The breakfast was in general okay exept that i would prefer some more local , original Greek cheeses not these ordinary packed cheeses that are not Greek . Althought this horel is in best area , very central and the working people are very kind it has a dark impression to me , i would prefer to lighten up a bit the colours in the corridors to lift up the spirit . in the night there was also a lot of noise from some foreign customers and that was quite annoying . Thank you
