Pros: good shower pressure, nice staff, great beach Cons: Everything else. We had high hopes for this self-reported "5 star" resort. When spending $1000+ per night for a room, you go in with high expectations. We started off our stay be first being sent 3 consecutive emails asking for our flight details. My wife provided these after the first email, but the emails continued. No big deal, but sloppy. When asked for our arrival time, we mentioned we'd get there around noon. Instead of an attempt to accomodate a slightly early arrival, we were told "early check in will be $350." Classy and hospitable! Upon arrival, we were informed that our check in would be not a minute sooner than 3:00pm. Nope. 40 minutes late, our room was ready. Upon being escorted to our room, the majority of the "property tour" was spent telling us how we'd be charged if we wanted anything typically included at a 5 star resort. Bottle of water in the room? 8 dollars. You want to order ANY item on the room service menu? That'll be an extra 30 dollars for a "tray fee." Upon entering our room, we were greeted by the view of an employee sitting DIRECTLY in front of our "view" about 15-20 feet away (see photo), periodically staring right into our room. Totally defeated the whole purpose of an ocean view. We were allowed to change rooms fortunately which was nice. The rooms themselves are a small step above a Holiday Inn Express. The walls are razor thin, and we were forced to listen to our neighbors TV late at night, even though it was at very reasonable volume and no fault of theirs. The screen doors are broken. The bathtub did not work as the drain would not seal properly and hold water. There are random curtains that don't close that separate the "bedroom" from the "living room" area, unclear their purpose. The TV was impossible to turn off, and we had to unplug it. The ceiling fan clinked and clanked away. Next, the food. Overpriced and underwhelming, and only offered at limited times. No dinner before 7pm, which is odd considering most people staying there were older and potentially wanting to get to bed earlier. There is a set menu each night, and you chose an app, a main, and a desert. If you are not on the "all inclusive plan" which we didn't sign up for as we like to keep options open, it is 140.00 USD EACH. At this price point, you'd expect Michelin experience. We tried it on Italian night. Minestrone soup was essentially a can of tomato soup with some cut up veggies. Eggplant parmesan was perhaps 4 total bites of food. Desert was a dry, bland piece of almond cake. Horrific value for the money. Breakfast also had its challenges. The "buffet" is a few plates of fruit that you have to let someone else serve to you, which seems totally unnecessary and atypical of 5 star resorts. Having someone serve you a slice of cantaloupe does not elevate the experience. There are some dry cereals and a few pastries. Again, very "Holiday Inn" continental breakfa
