Lifehouse Spa and Hotel

From reading other people’s reviews upon our return home, it appears other visitors have had the same experiences as us from this spa. Reception wasn’t welcoming at all. Indeed it did feel that, as another group has reviewed, we weren’t wanted there. We were a group of 8 ladies celebrating a friends 50th. The clientele here are predominantly couples. I agree it should state ‘couples only’. That’s the clientele they want. After checking in, we went straight for some lunch. I have no idea what we did to upset our waitress who was very hostile and aggravated by us from the offset. After not feeling welcomed by reception and now a very disgruntled waitress we were left feeling really flat and like we’d done something wrong. This attitude from staff was a continued theme, right up until checkout where we weren’t acknowledged. The lady working the reception desk was dealing with a booking on the front desks. However, a courtesy nod or ‘I’ll be with you in a second’ would go a long way. Being completely ignored with no apology for the wait, just isn’t professional at this level of hotel/spa. They really do need to work on the customer service. I felt pressurised to leave my room at 10 by the cleaners who stood outside my room with their trolley waiting for me to leave. Checkout is 12, however, the whole corridor was full of cleaners and the pressure was real. Again, as others have commented, the spa area was very busy, we could only get one lounger. The pool was absolutely freezing and the plunge pool was very cloudy and dubious looking, (skin oils I expect? But did look grim). It wasn’t a relaxing experience. Was a bit manic waiting to tag team in the jacuzzi. When the bubbles started the fumes stung our eyes and we had to get out. Might need to check the chlorine levels. Rooms were absolutely boiling. One of us slept with the patio door open all night. The spa can’t keep using the excuse of ‘unseasonably warm weather’ when the complaints have been in September, November and April! There’s a thermostat problem. Food wasn’t the best. My lunch and starter in the evening had absolutely no flavour at all. So bland. Felt like having covid again. Paid extra for the steak, but although edible, it was only pub standard served with just fries and a handful of packet rocket. Nothing as special as they believe. Chef should taste the Parma starter. And buffalo tomato lunch. It’s completely tasteless. Positives: You can’t fault the hotel area for cleanliness. Rooms and corridors. 5 stars for that team. Beautiful gardens. All of us felt we had a great treatment and this team were friendly and accommodating. I hope that Lifehouse take the constructive criticism on board to ensure future guests have a nicer experience, however, from reading their defensive replies to others complaints and failure to acknowledge that guests have been left disappointed, I expect I’ll be getting a curt response too. There’s plenty of spas offering the same as this one. An

just returned from this hotel, check in was fast and the guy on reception was very nice and friendly the hotel itself is in need of some TLC as its an old building but the room was just that the bed was very comfortable with tea and coffee stuff on the table there was no breakfast as said on the website but wetherspoons is just round the corner so all good loads of restrants in the area as well as pubs its in a great place as everything you need is around you (beach, pier and funfair) just over the road dont think i would stay there again but good for a few days break
