Premier Inn Colchester (A12)

Comfortable, clean with everything you need. The only problem was lack of ventilation. The windows wouldn’t open at all so we had to get out in the morning as the room became too hot and stale , especially in a family room with 4 people!!! Also smelt a bit faggy!

The hotel was what you expect with Premier Inn. It was let down by the food and service in the restaurant. The service was poor. The food was like warm. They didn't know how to make the drinks either.

I was disappointed with both dinner (beef & ale pie) and the following morning 'All you can eat' cooked breakfast. Dinner was 'adequate' at best and slightly overpriced. 'Cooked' breakfast was not buffet service but heated in kitchen and served by staff on a plate. No mention of further cooked servings available. The breakfast fare was poor, stiff dry rashers, luke warm beans, low quality sausages., no black pudding available. My friend left half his breakfast behind. Hotel is rather remote from town centre requiring cab journey (£11+) I would not stay at this particular Premier Inn again, and eat out of the establishment too. Where's 'Lenny Henry' when you want him????

Stayed here whilst visiting friends for New Years & birthday. Excellent Hotel, staff & cleanliness as expected. Quick & Easy check in, with helpful advice and assistance to book breakfasts, taxi's etc. Breakfasts, great start to the day, very helpful staff & great range of foods provided, both with the ranges of breads & cereals & lovely hot plates of cooked breakfasts delivered to your table. Now the bad bit, evening meal. We booked 1 evening meal in the attached restaurant. Wife orders a straight forward pub classic, Lasagne with garlic bread. Came with a slice of dry brown bread instead of garlic bread & when mentioned, they gave her a slice of garlic flatbread (& charged her separately for it), also would have been nice for there to have been some meat in the Lasagne, not just Ragu/tomato sauce. Was more like a pasta topped tomato sauce pie than a lasagne. Most of it went uneaten & to be fair when mentioned to the serving staff at the end, they removed the lasagne from out bill (but not the garlic flatbread strangely). Put a downer on our last night in the hotel.

Staff members are great; room was clean; air con could have been better functioning and there was a bad, stale smell emanating from it; beds were comfy, though; served its purpose for price; would use this hotel again

Stayed for 3 nights with the family including kids aged 3 and 1 while we visited family in the area. When we arrived to check in (8/2/24) we were welcomed by two of your colleagues, I didn't catch their names (one male and one female). They greeted us so warmly and chatted with my eldest, asking both the children’s names and about our trip. Check in was easy and we found our room comfortable and set up with the bed requirements. The room was clean and comfortable. A smart tele would make things easier in a family room as nowadays kids are used to apps where they can choose what they want to watch whereas the tele in the room had limited choice. This is the only thing I’d change. Every morning or evening when we were in or out of reception the staff said hello and asked about our day. The young lady from reception in particular would greet the children by name and talk to them about our plans for the day. Pleased with the hotel but it was the staff that really made the difference. We will be staying again

Our room (No.16) very nice indeed. The food, Breakfast & Evening Meal excellent. The staff in Reception, Restaurant, Maintenance and Cleaners each made us feel Welcome and at Home. I can not find any fault; only PRAISE for a wonderful time; which for us as a family was a very sad time. Thank you so much Premier Inn for playing your part in helping us through a difficult time.

I use this location for business purposes, once every two weeks and this location it’s far one of the best out there, with friendly and helpful staff avaible 24h. Highly recommend to prebook tables in the restaurant, as they have limited seating available.

I would a 100% recommend the A12 Colchester premier inn .. always ! The service is impeccable.. the area .. top ! The restaurant just a throw brick away, Wifi at all times. Clean at all times, the food .. yummy and my whole stay was so cheerful because of the staff.. they acknowledge you, smile and greet you at all times. 🥰 TOP RECOMMENDATION :)
