I wanted to write about my phenomenal experience at Grand Selva. Karin and Robert has built a great lodge. If an amazon excursion is what you are looking for, then this is the lodge for you. Please reach out to this lodge and they will guide you from the airport in Quito to the Amazon and back. Getting from the airport to the lodge was easy. Karin offer to us many options from Quito Airport to arrive at the lodge. They were able to direct one of our friends to take public transportation from Quito to the lodge and arrange private transportation for the majority of us. The cost of private transportation was cheap in comparison to other options we found. Arriving at the lodge, we were given a plethora of options to explore the amazon right away. We participated in a few adventures and took sometime off in the pool. On one of our trips, the rain went from drizzle to pouring, but Robert was able to direct our adventure to completion with great comfort. Our room in the lodge was air conditioned and cleaned daily. The food at the lodge was probably one of my favorite meals in Ecuador. I wish we could have stayed longer. I would love to have another drink with Junior. I was not sure what to expect from this trip to the Amazon, but was pleasantly surprised. We would love to come back if I am able to have more vacation days.

We just got done with an amazing 5 night jungle experience. This is a beautiful lodge with rustic family touches, great food with large portions and amazing guides. Junior did an amazing job explaining to us the different excursions, keeping us safe, and being a great knowledge base for all of our questions! We were able to do many activities including visits to caves, waterfalls, butterfly farm, a rescue center for animals, jungle hike, canoe ride, kayaking, chocolate making, and a night hike. It you are looking for a high end lodge that serves you food on a silver platter, this place is not for you…if you would like an authentic jungle experience with genuine people who truly care about the land and people around them, this might be more up your alley! Karen and Roberto help every step of the way making sure than each planned event is within your ability and comfort level. You can do easy walks on the land of the lodge or climb through a cave or hike to a waterfall! We will never forget this great experience!

A beautiful little hotel right near the rainforest. Excellent communication with the owner ( English, Spanish, German ). We were a group of four friends and this is what a cozy clean hotel should look like with lots of activities in the area. We can highly recommend it, it was an amazing highlight of our trip through Ecuador....

Everything at the lodge was good but could have been great with improved communication. Our family of four arrived at the same time as a group and we were offered the options to joint their tours on an expedited schedule (four days of activities in two days). We joined them for the full day Napo tour and really enjoyed the day but we were very rushed and had no idea what activity was next. At the end of the day, the four of us were left alone at the river bank for 45 minutes waiting for he bus while the guides took the rest of the group to another location. They do serve food, but it's not a restaurant, it's just one meal offered. That said they did an amazing job catering to my dietary restrictions and the pricing was very reasonable. The staff were helpful, but they were too few doing too much for too many for too long. The same guys did breakfast,, drove the boats, did the tours, cleaned rooms and then were on dinner duty. We tipped them well as they worked hard. The beds were comfortable, but the pillows were mouldy, the shower was hot but faucets leaked, sheets and towels were fresh washed but the elastic corners were gone in all the bedding and the towels were worn and had holes in them. Overall, you get what you pay for and this is a budget friendly option in a remote area. If you're on a budget, it's a good option that you won't regret but don't go expecting frills.

We could not speak highly enough of Robert and Karen. They were so accommodating and really took care of us. We done 2 full day tours with them. The first day Robert picked us up early and brought us to Selva lodge where we met our Jungle guide Junior, who was excellent. Junior brought us in through the primary and secondary forests of the Amazon. He explained to us the different tress while also showing us snakes, termites, bullet ants, fish & the many different birds. The 2nd day, Karen picked us up at 8.30am and brought us to Selva where Robert had the larger bus prepared with kayaks and life jackets. He brought to the Rio Napo river where Junior again guided us down. The views were unbelievable. Junior brought us to Amazoonica where we seen many Amazon animals saved from the black market. After, we visited a local kichwa community and they showed us how to make the native drink and some native dishes. We also fed Caymans nearby. It was an amazing 2 days and great experience.

Amazing host and beautiful place to stay in the heart of the Ecuadorian Amazon! We took the 3 day, 2 night tour and it was a fun experience, with great guides and very informative. Other great places to visit are also close enough, even if taking the local buses will test your patience, but I see that as part of the adventure!

Interesting experience at Grand Selva! There was only one other guest when I arrived, and the place is huge, so it felt quite empty. Nevertheless, Karin made me feel welcome, and the main tour guide Junior led the first activity within a couple of hours: chocolate making! More Guests arrived, and I was impressed at how everyone was attended to in order of their arrival to complete all the promised activities. It was not coordinated in the way that I expected, but I had a great time overall! Plenty of food and dietary accommodations were made. One of the best showers of my trip, and a room with two beds. The place has an outdated feel, but is kept mostly clean. Animals and children live there, which was a bonus. Special shout out to Junior, who nearly single handedly led all the tours. Also kudos to Giovannie, his sister Yolanda, Bambil, and his brother and cousin.

This place is gorgeous. Right on the edge of the Amazon. Karin & Robert will take care of everything from your tours, meals & laundry. I stayed for over a month and cried when I left. Best place. Kindest owners.
